Local Insights
Cimarron is a small but active community of 2,770 residents where steady, incremental growth (0.40% annually) translates into modest, reliable demand for home repairs, landscape refreshes, and targeted new builds rather than large-scale development. That steady growth means homeowners and small contractors are more often investing in long-term, low-maintenance improvements—updated driveways, better drainage, and resilient planting beds—so material choices tend to favor durability and versatility. The local climate and geography shape those needs: situated in hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days per year and 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, projects must balance moisture management and heat exposure. Quality bulk materials—topsoil blends, graded base rock, sand for leveling, mulch for water retention, and erosion-control stone—help properties handle both sunny, dry spells and episodic heavy rains while minimizing upkeep.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Just a little hiccup in the delivery date but everything worked out well and with great communication from Janel. Ordering went smoothly as well as working with the delivery team to deliver to the appropriate location for my yard.

Hello Gravel connects Cimarron customers with trusted local suppliers and contracted haulers that serve West Kansas. We don’t list individual companies here, but suppliers typically include regional quarries, landscapers, and material yards within the area. You place an order online, and we coordinate pricing, scheduling, and delivery through our network.
Delivery radius varies by supplier and hauler, but in rural West Kansas most providers serve within roughly 20 to 60 miles of Cimarron. Hello Gravel’s minimum order is 3 tons; longer hauls or very remote addresses may incur additional delivery fees. Delivery is by dump truck (often tri-axle), so distance and road access affect price and timing.
Start by matching performance needs to material characteristics: stability for driveways, permeability for drainage, and coverage or erosion resistance for slopes. Consider the group gravel, sand, dirt, stone together and ask how particle size, shape (angular vs rounded), and compaction affect your project. If unsure, use Hello Gravel’s material quiz or contact our team for a recommendation based on your planned use and site conditions.
Most suppliers and haulers offer drop-off delivery by default; loading and hauling are included through Hello Gravel. Tailgate spreading may be available at the driver’s discretion and can be requested at checkout, but it is not guaranteed. For full spreading, grading, or installation services, arrange a contractor or confirm with the supplier before ordering.
Standard delivery windows are 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is often available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Weekend or after-hours deliveries depend on local hauler schedules and may be limited in rural areas. We recommend scheduling well in advance during busy seasons to secure your preferred date.
Yes. In the West Kansas area, freeze-thaw cycles, heavy spring rains, and very dry summer conditions can affect delivery, spreading, and compaction. Avoid trying to spread or finish materials on frozen or waterlogged ground, and plan deliveries for dry windows when possible. Allow extra lead time in spring and fall when roads and suppliers are busiest.
Small residential drop-offs are usually permitted, but larger projects, driveway reconstructions, curb cuts, or deliveries that block public right-of-way may require permits or county approval. Always check with Cimarron city hall and Gray County planning or public works before starting work, and call 811 to locate underground utilities prior to digging or grading. If you plan structural work, consult a contractor about permit requirements.
Price depends on material type, volume, local availability, distance from the source, time of year, and delivery logistics. Because regional geology will influence texture and color, prices can vary across suppliers. The fastest way to get accurate pricing is to request a quote through Hello Gravel, enter your zip code, and include delivery details and project needs.
Measure the length, width, and desired depth of the area to calculate cubic yards (length x width x depth in feet ÷ 27). For most projects, order 10% to 15% extra to allow for compaction, settling, and waste. Use Hello Gravel’s online material calculator for a guided estimate and call our team if you’d like help refining quantities.
Ensure the truck has safe access, including adequate driveway width, overhead clearance, and a stable turnaround or drop-off area; notify us of gates, low-hanging wires, or tight turns. Mark the preferred drop location and remove obstacles like vehicles or yard furniture. If you need tailgate spreading, request it at checkout and understand the driver will assess safety and feasibility on arrival.
