Local Insights
Worthington has a population of 2,410, and its modest, steady growth rate of 0.40% annually points to consistent, incremental demand for home improvement and small-scale construction projects rather than abrupt development booms. The broader region — a metro area with a population of 2.3+ million — supports a healthy supply chain and access to varied aggregates, but local homeowners tend to undertake gradual landscaping upgrades, driveway repairs, and drainage fixes. With 228 sunny days per year, an annual rainfall of 33.50 inches, and classification in hardiness zone 8b, the local climate favors projects that balance sun-tolerant planting with reliable erosion and water-management strategies. That combination makes quality bulk materials — gravel, sand, topsoil, mulch, and crushed stone — especially important: well-graded aggregates for drainage, stable base material for driveways and patios, and consistent topsoil and mulch for planting beds that need to retain moisture through dry spells.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Start by matching the material to the job: think about how much weight it will bear, how much drainage you need, and how it should look. In West Indiana, materials like gravel, sand, dirt, stone and blends perform differently for driveways versus walking paths, so consider durability and maintenance. Use our material quiz or contact our team to narrow options based on your site conditions and budget.
Look at permeability, particle size, and how the material will interact with soil and plants. For erosion control and grading, choose materials that resist washout and compact as needed; for beds, pick materials that support plant health and drainage. Keep in mind regional sourcing means color and texture can vary around Worthington.
Worthington sees freeze-thaw cycles, seasonal heavy rain, and winter snow, so choose materials that drain well and tolerate recurring wet-dry changes. Materials that compact and retain shape under freeze-thaw cycles are better for driveways and paths. If you plan snow removal, pick materials that will not be easily displaced by plows.
Measure the length, width, and depth of the area you plan to fill, then use a cubic-yard or ton calculator to convert volumes to tons. Our online material calculator can help, but as a rule of thumb check minimum order quantities (Hello Gravel minimum is 3 tons) and round up for settlement and waste. Contact our team with site dimensions if you want help confirming quantities.
Yes, but delivery depends on access and supplier coverage in your zip code; check service availability for Worthington (zip 47471) and nearby areas. Large dump trucks need clear turnaround space, appropriate road weight limits, and enough overhead clearance. If access is tight, tell us or add delivery notes so we can match the right hauler and plan placement.
Standard delivery is 2+ business days from order confirmation, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. You can pick a preferred delivery date during checkout, and we confirm timing with the hauler prior to dispatch. During busy seasons or bad weather, allow extra lead time as local suppliers and roads may affect schedules.
Drivers may perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, and you can request it at checkout, but spreading is not guaranteed. The driver will assess safety and site conditions on arrival before deciding if spreading is feasible. If you need full spreading or grading, we recommend hiring an installer or contractor and coordinating delivery to match their schedule.
Permit and HOA requirements vary by property; some driveways, grading changes, or large deliveries may require a town or county permit or HOA approval. Check with Worthington town offices, Greene County, or your HOA before ordering to avoid delays. If you are unsure, our team can remind you to confirm local rules prior to delivery.
Hello Gravel specializes in supplying and delivering materials; many customers order material-only and then hire a local contractor for installation. If you prefer bundled service, coordinate delivery timing with your installer so material arrives when crews are ready. We can help you estimate quantities and delivery logistics to streamline the installation process.
Yes, our regional suppliers may offer recycled or locally sourced options, and material availability reflects local geology and supplier inventory. If you prefer recycled or specific local materials, note that in your order or contact our team to see what is available nearby. Keep in mind recycled materials can vary in appearance and composition, and local regulations may affect what is permitted for some projects.
