Local Insights
Versailles is a small but active community of 3,910 residents within a larger metro region of 2.3+ million people. With a steady growth rate of 0.40% annually, demand for repairs, property upgrades, and selective new construction tends to be measured rather than boom-driven — homeowners are more likely to take on incremental landscaping and hardscape projects that improve durability and curb appeal. The local climate — about 228 sunny days a year and 33.50 inches of rain annually in hardiness zone 8b — favors materials that handle both sun exposure and periodic wet conditions. That means homeowners in Versailles benefit from quality bulk supplies that balance drainage, stability, and aesthetic needs: things like base materials for paths and driveways, topdressings for planting beds, erosion-control aggregates for slopes, and screened soils for planting. Regional sourcing also matters here, since locally supplied materials reflect the geology and weather patterns that affect long-term performance.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Cost depends on the material type, the amount you order, and the delivery distance from local suppliers. Hello Gravel shows transparent pricing in checkout and you can get an exact quote by entering your zip code and desired quantity; note our minimum order is 3 tons. For a quick estimate, use our material calculator or contact our sales team for a personalized price.
Buy only the quantity you need and choose a locally sourced option to reduce haul distance and cost. Ordering more at once often lowers the per-ton price, and selecting standard delivery rather than rush delivery saves fees. Use Hello Gravel's calculator and compare similar materials to match performance with budget.
You place an order online, we match you with a local supplier and hauler, and a dump truck delivers the load to your site. Standard delivery typically requires 2+ business days; next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion, but that service is not guaranteed.
Start by matching the material's function to the project: look for compactable, load-bearing materials for driveways, stable base materials for patios, and decorative or drainage-friendly options for garden beds and paths. Consider local climate (freeze-thaw, rainfall) and regional material appearance when deciding. If you are unsure, take the aggregate quiz or contact our team for a recommendation based on your project details.
Tonnage depends on the area and depth you need; a helpful rule is to calculate cubic yards (area x depth) and convert to tons, which varies by material density. As rough examples, a 12' x 20' driveway at 3 inches deep typically needs about 2 to 3 cubic yards (roughly 3 tons), and a 10' x 10' patio at 2 inches deep usually needs about 0.6 to 1.0 tons. Use our online calculator for precise estimates because different materials have different weights.
No—materials reflect local geology, so color, texture, and stone size can vary by supplier and region. Photos are representative; if color or appearance is critical, add notes to your order or contact our team to discuss local samples and options. We will do our best to match preferences but cannot guarantee an exact match.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion if site access and safety allow, and you can request this service at checkout. Because spreading depends on truck access, weather, and crew capacity, it is not guaranteed. If spreading is essential, plan for additional labor or request a professional spreading service.
Clear a stable drop zone with good truck access, remove low-hanging branches, and mark utilities or fragile areas with flags so the driver knows where to place the load. Ensure there is enough room for a tri-axle dump truck to maneuver and consider where you will store or spread the material after delivery. If delivery will block a public street or require special permits, check local regulations beforehand.
Contact Hello Gravel as soon as possible—changes are easier to accommodate before the order is dispatched, and we will do our best to adjust based on supplier and hauler availability. For issues after delivery, reach customer service so we can review the situation and work toward a satisfactory solution; refer to our refund policy for details. Prompt communication helps speed resolution.
