Local Insights
Mccordsville is a growing community of 16,940 residents where steady, manageable expansion—about 0.40% annually—means homeowners and contractors can expect ongoing but not explosive demand for remodeling, new yards, and small-scale development. That steady growth supports predictable projects like driveway repairs, lawn renovations, and foundation prep rather than large, rapid subdivision builds. With 228 sunny days a year and average rainfall of 33.50 inches, local projects must balance UV exposure and intermittent wet periods; materials need to resist sun fading and provide reliable drainage during rain events. In this climate and hardiness zone 8b, quality bulk supplies—stone, sand, topsoil, and mulch among others—help residents build long-lasting driveways, establish resilient planting beds, and stabilize slopes. Regional sourcing means color and texture will reflect local geology, so choosing the right aggregate and amount matters for both function and curb appeal. Mccordsville’s combination of moderate rainfall, regular sun, and local soil types creates specific performance requirements: materials must shed water, avoid rutting after storms, and withstand seasonal freeze–thaw cycles that affect compaction and settling. For homeowners, that translates to choosing well-graded materials for drainage layers, denser mixes for drive surfaces, and organics suited to local planting zones. Hello Gravel helps by connecting you to local suppliers who know how materials perform here, offering clear quantity estimates and delivery scheduling so your project uses the right materials at the right time. That local insight reduces rework, improves longevity, and saves time on site preparation and finishing.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Consider how the area will be used, how much weight it must support, drainage needs, and the look you want. For most projects, choosing between gravel, sand, dirt, stone depends on stability and drainage: well-draining aggregates work better for driveways and sloped areas, while finer materials suit leveling and planting beds. Use our material calculator or contact our team for help matching a material to your project and local conditions.
McCordsville experiences cold winters with freeze-thaw cycles and wet springs, which can cause settling, frost heave, and erosion if materials are not compacted or drained properly. Summer is usually best for installation because soils are drier and compaction is easier. Plan for good drainage and choose materials that tolerate freeze-thaw if the area will get road or vehicle traffic.
Late spring through early fall is generally best because ground is not frozen and crews can work without frequent weather delays. Avoid scheduling major grading or deliveries during heavy rain or freeze periods to reduce tracking and compaction problems. Order early for peak season dates and use our checkout calendar to pick a preferred delivery day.
Calculate volume in cubic yards using: (length ft x width ft x depth ft) / 27, then convert to tons using our online calculator because weight varies by material. For example, a 10x20 area at 2 inches deep is about 1.3 cubic yards; a 20x30 driveway surface at 3 inches is roughly 5.6 cubic yards. If you prefer, use our material calculator or contact our sales team with project dimensions and expected use for a quick estimate.
Yes. Local soils and low-lying spots in the West Indiana area can hold water, so choose materials and installation methods that improve drainage and reduce settling. For wet or clay-prone areas, consider a well-draining aggregate and actions like grading, French drains, or geotextile fabric to stabilize the base. If you are unsure, share photos and site details with our team for guidance.
Local city rules or HOA covenants can affect driveway materials, front-yard landscaping, and major grading work. Permits may be required for curb cuts, driveway expansions, or large changes to drainage patterns. Check your city and HOA requirements before ordering material; Hello Gravel can help with delivery but does not handle permits.
We require a minimum order of 3 tons and deliver by dump truck (typically tri-axle). Standard delivery is 2+ business days, and next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. You can choose a preferred delivery date at checkout; tailgate spreading is sometimes available at the driver's discretion but is not guaranteed.
Final price depends on material type, order size, delivery distance, site access, and any special services like spreading or offloading. Many areas have free delivery for qualifying orders, but fees vary by supplier and haul distance; full pricing shows at checkout before you pay. Contact our sales team if you need help understanding fees or want a custom quote.
Drivers may be able to perform limited tailgate spreading at their discretion if it can be done safely and within local regulations. You should request spreading at checkout and plan for the possibility that the driver cannot complete it. For guaranteed spreading or detailed placement, consider hiring a local contractor or scheduling professional installation.
Natural materials reflect regional geology, so texture and color can vary from photos; add color preferences in Order Notes but expect some variation. If you need to change or cancel an order, contact our team as soon as possible — modifications are easier before dispatch but not always possible after trucks have been assigned. If there are issues with quality or delivery, reach out to customer service and we will work to resolve them.
