Local Insights
Wallace is a small Idaho community with a city population of 1,180 located inside a broader West Idaho metro that serves 2.6+ million people. A steady 1.20% annual growth rate means construction and landscaping demand builds gradually—more homeowners updating yards and addressing drainage and access than sudden large developments—so material needs are consistent and ongoing. Wallace’s climate and geography, with 228 sunny days per year, 34.25 inches of annual rainfall, and a hardiness zone of 8b, require materials that handle both sun and seasonal wetness. That combination affects choices across gravel, dirt, sand, mulch, and stone: you want durable base materials for driveways and paths, drainage-friendly mixes for slopes and low spots, and planting soils and mulches that support the longer growing season. Sourcing locally helps match color, texture, and performance to regional soils and equipment access. Because Wallace experiences substantial sunshine alongside meaningful rainfall, soils and aggregates must balance permeability and stability. Summers can dry and compact some mixes while wet seasons test erosion control and drainage—so performance depends on particle size, gradation, and proper installation as much as the material type. For homeowners, this means choosing materials that reduce settling and runoff, improve plant establishment, and require less frequent touch-ups. Hello Gravel’s network of local suppliers and tools like material calculators and guided recommendations make it easier to pick the right blends and quantities and to schedule delivery when site conditions are best.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Think about drainage, load, and appearance before choosing material. For most home projects in Wallace, gravel, sand, dirt, stone can be used in different mixes depending on whether you need stability for vehicles, a flat base for pavers, or good drainage for plant beds. Use our material calculator or contact our team to match the right blend to your project and local conditions. We can recommend common options based on local geology and typical West Idaho weather.
Yes. Materials are regionally sourced, so texture and color can vary based on local geology in the West Idaho area. That variation is normal and can affect appearance and compaction, so plan for that when ordering and note any color preferences in your order notes. If exact color or texture is critical, ask our team for local product photos or samples before delivery.
Estimate needs by measuring the area (length x width) and desired depth, then convert to tons with our online calculator or ask our team for help. For many homeowner projects in Wallace, a 2-3 inch top layer over a yard or a 4-6 inch base for a driveway are typical starting points. Keep in mind our minimum order is 3 tons, so small projects may require that minimum or planning for overlap with future work.
We deliver throughout Wallace but narrow streets, steep driveways, or historic districts may limit truck access. Mark the desired drop area, clear obstacles, and confirm access during checkout so the driver can plan the safest route. If a truck cannot reach the site, we will coordinate an alternative drop location and let you know options before delivery.
Standard delivery typically takes 2 or more business days, and you can choose a preferred date during checkout. Next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee, subject to local supplier and truck availability. We will confirm your delivery window once the order is processed, but exact times are dependent on local logistics.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading, but this is done at their discretion based on safety and site conditions. You can request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess whether it is feasible when they arrive. We do not guarantee spreading, so plan for possible additional labor or equipment if precise spreading is required.
Yes. Wallace and surrounding areas have mining history, so some sites may be restricted or environmentally sensitive. Check local regulations and permits before ordering large deliveries to locations near old mines or protected lands, and let us know if your drop zone requires special handling. We can help coordinate delivery logistics but are not responsible for permitting.
West Idaho weather can be variable, so heavy rain, snow, or freeze-thaw cycles will affect material handling and compaction. Schedule deliveries in dry conditions when possible, and choose materials and depths that account for seasonal settling and drainage needs. If weather impacts delivery, we will notify you and help reschedule as needed.
Natural materials vary by region, so differences in color, texture, and size are common due to regional sourcing. If the material seems substantially different from what you expected, contact our customer service right away and we will work to resolve the issue in line with our policies. Note that photos are representative and exact matches are not guaranteed.
Contact our team as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order; earlier requests are easier to accommodate. Changes may be limited once a supplier is assigned or a truck is dispatched, and fees may apply depending on timing and local supplier policies. We will do our best to work with you to find a solution before processing is complete.
