Local Insights
Driggs is a small but steadily growing mountain community (city population 4,260) within a broader West Idaho metro area (metro area population 2.6+ million). That steady 1.20% annual growth reflects ongoing residential and infill projects—driveways, patios, landscape upgrades, and property improvements—that keep demand for bulk materials consistent. Local climate and geography play a big role: with 228 sunny days annually, 34.25 inches of rainfall, and a hardiness zone of 8b, homeowners need materials that balance drainage, plant health, and durability. In practice that means choosing stable base materials, consistent topsoil mixes, and erosion-control products that perform after heavy rain while also supporting longer growing seasons. Because regional suppliers shape color and texture, picking the right type and volume of material matters for both performance and curb appeal.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Homeowners and contractors typically order bulk materials such as gravel, sand, dirt, stone for driveways, landscaping, and site prep. These materials are used for base layers, drainage, garden beds, and erosion control, and selections often reflect local geology and appearance. Use our material calculator or take the aggregate quiz to narrow choices for your project.
Driggs sees snow and freeze-thaw cycles that can affect compaction, settling, and timing for installation. For best results, plan delivery and installation in spring through fall when possible; winter deliveries are available but can be delayed and may require additional site prep. Store materials covered and keep drainage in mind to avoid freeze-related heaving.
Match material properties to the job: look for good drainage for erosion control, stable compaction for driveways, and finer textures for patios or garden beds. Consider local climate, appearance, and how much maintenance you want. Our team can recommend options based on the intended use and site conditions.
Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days, with a next-day option for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Deliveries use dump truck fleets (usually tri-axle) and have a minimum order of 3 tons; tailgate spreading may be available at the driver’s discretion. You can choose your preferred delivery date during checkout and add site notes for access or placement.
Yes. Rural roads, steep driveways, narrow lanes, or local weight limits around Driggs can restrict truck access and possible drop locations. If access is tight, we may arrange a shorter drop-off or recommend a nearby staging area; sending photos or notes during ordering helps us coordinate. Drivers will assess safety on arrival and may decline unsafe placements.
Permit and HOA rules vary by lot, subdivision, and Teton County regulations, so check with Driggs city offices, county planning, or your HOA before delivery. Many projects that change drainage, add permanent surfaces, or alter slopes require permits or specific erosion controls. If you’re unsure, contact local authorities or our team for guidance before ordering.
Measure the area (length x width) and the desired depth to calculate volume, then use our online material calculator to convert volume to tons. Remember our minimum order is 3 tons; for unusual depths or compaction needs, reach out and our team can help refine quantities. Bringing site measurements or photos to the call speeds up accurate estimates.
Prices depend on material type, local availability, delivery distance, seasonal demand, and any additional services like spreading. Because regional sourcing affects cost, the fastest way to get an accurate price is to check your zip code on our site and request an instant quote or contact our sales team. We show transparent fees during checkout and can help explain any line items.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible—changes are easiest before the order is dispatched and we’ll do our best to accommodate requests. If there’s an issue at delivery, tell the driver and then contact us so we can work toward a resolution; review our site for details on policies and next steps. Keep in mind tailgate spreading and placement may be limited by safety and site conditions.
