Local Insights
Lyons (city population 4,320) is experiencing ongoing annual growth, which typically translates into steady demand for residential repairs, outdoor upgrades, and small-scale construction. When a community grows each year, homeowners and contractors both prioritize projects that improve drainage, durability, and curb appeal — from resurfacing driveways and installing pathways to updating garden beds and retaining walls. In a place with an annual rainfall of 228.00 inches and about 200 sunny days per year, material choices must respond to frequent moisture while also supporting seasonal use. That combination makes quality bulk materials — gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, and other aggregates — especially important: they help control erosion, improve drainage, and create stable bases for structures and landscaping, reducing the need for repeat work and long-term maintenance.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Choose materials based on desired look, drainage, and load requirements. For most projects, consider a durable aggregate mix that provides good drainage and compaction; gravel, sand, dirt, stone each have pros and cons depending on use. If vehicles will use the surface, prioritize angular, compactable mixes; for decorative paths, lighter, finer aggregates can work well. Use our material calculator or contact our team to match a material to your specific project in Lyons.
Lyons' mountain-influenced climate brings freeze-thaw cycles and occasional heavy rain, so pick materials that resist erosion and drain well. Regional sourcing means materials reflect local geology, so expect color and texture variation. For slopes or seasonal runoff areas, choose coarser aggregates to help stability and reduce movement. Our team can recommend materials suited to Lyons' conditions and typical yard grades.
Quantity depends on area and required depth; common depths are 2-3 inches for pathways and 4-6 inches for driveways. Use our online material calculator for accurate ton estimates, or provide project dimensions for personalized guidance. Remember our minimum order is 3 tons, so plan projects or combine smaller jobs if you need less than that amount.
Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days, and next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. We schedule deliveries via local haulers and allow customers to choose a preferred delivery date during checkout. Delivery timing can vary with seasonal demand and local supplier availability, so book early for spring and summer projects.
Yes—access limitations like narrow roads, low-hanging wires, or steep, unpaved driveways affect truck placement and material placement. Provide detailed delivery instructions and photos at checkout or in the order notes so drivers can plan routes and offload points. In some cases drivers may perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed and depends on safety and equipment constraints.
Contractors should verify compaction, particle size, and drainage characteristics relative to the project's design requirements. Ask suppliers about aggregate gradation and any local performance history rather than relying on appearance alone. Consider local building codes and engineer recommendations for subbase, backfill, or bedding applications and request product details from our team if you need technical specs.
Pricing depends on material type, order size, local availability, haul distance, and seasonal demand. Additional costs can include difficult access fees, special delivery timing, or optional services like tailgate spreading when available. Use our upfront pricing during checkout to see cost estimates for your zip code, and contact our sales team for bulk or contractor pricing questions.
Most homeowners schedule major landscaping and driveway work in late spring through early fall when weather is milder and the ground is workable. Winter deliveries can be more challenging due to snow, frozen ground, and limited supplier availability, though projects that require winter work are still possible with planning. Book deliveries early for peak season to secure your preferred date.
Natural materials vary by region and supplier, so color and texture may differ from photos or samples. If the material is substantially different from your expectations, contact our customer service promptly and we will work to resolve the issue following our policies. To reduce surprises, note color preferences in the order notes and ask for local photos or descriptions before ordering.
Place orders online by entering your zip code to see available materials and delivery options; you can also call or text our sales team for help. Contact us as soon as possible to modify or cancel an order—changes are easier before dispatch but not always guaranteed. We accept major credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay through a secure checkout.
