Local Insights
Lochbuie is a small community with a city population of 81 and a nearby metro area population of 3,425, a scale that typically means steady, incremental construction and landscaping demand rather than large, boom-driven projects. Continued annual growth signals regular needs for home repairs, yard upgrades, and small-scale new construction—projects that rely on reliable deliveries of bulk materials. Local climate and geography intensify those needs: an annual rainfall of 228.00 inches and about 200/year sunny days, paired with hardiness zone 4a, mean homeowners prioritize drainage solutions, erosion control, frost-resistant backfill, and soil amendments. That combination makes quality aggregates, engineered soils, mulch, and sand important across many projects. For Lochbuie homeowners, dependable access to a range of materials—delivered on schedule and sized correctly—reduces delays and helps ensure long-lasting results in this environment.

While I cannot speak to the actual service, I did enter my phone number to get a quote. I realized it was probably too much for my small project. But I received a very helpful follow up text conversation, and after I explained it was probably more than I needed, they still took time to help me work through how much I would need, and offered me possible solutions, even knowing I wouldn't be using their product. Makes me wish they had fit my needs, if that's the level of service they provided even to a non customers

Choose materials based on load, drainage, and maintenance needs. For Lochbuie’s climate and freeze-thaw cycles, pick aggregates that compact well and shed water; consider a layered approach (stable base plus a top layer). Use our material quiz or chat with our team to match performance to your project goals.
Measure the length, width, and desired depth to calculate cubic yards, then convert to tons if needed or use Hello Gravel’s online calculator. For irregular areas, take a bit extra (5-10%) for waste and compaction. If you’re unsure, send photos or contact our team for help with an estimate.
Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Materials are delivered by contracted dump truck fleets (usually tri-axle) and you can select a preferred delivery date at checkout. Tailgate spreading can be requested but is performed at the driver’s discretion and is not guaranteed.
Delivery costs depend on distance from the supplier, site access, load size, and any special requirements like narrow streets or required permits. Weather, seasonal demand, and steep or soft driveways may add surcharges. Review your quote for any listed fees and contact customer service if you see unexpected charges.
Spring through fall is generally the easiest time for deliveries and installation, since frozen ground and snow can delay work. In Colorado, avoid scheduling major grading or compaction right before freeze-thaw cycles; allow materials time to settle and drain. If you need winter delivery, plan for potential delays and discuss site conditions with our team ahead of time.
Common projects include driveways, patios, pathways, garden beds, erosion control, and base layers for hardscapes. Different jobs require different material properties, so plan whether you need a compactable base, a drainage layer, or decorative top material. Our site resources and sales team can help select the right aggregate mix for each project type.
Local rules and HOA regulations vary, so check with the Town of Lochbuie and your HOA before ordering. Some neighborhoods have restrictions on visible materials, driveways, or delivery times. If permits are required, arrange them ahead of delivery and note any access limitations in your order notes.
Clear a stable drop zone free of vehicles, low branches, and obstacles, and plan for truck turning and parking space for a tri-axle dump truck. Protect lawns or finished surfaces with plywood if you’re concerned about rutting, and confirm any underground utilities or irrigation lines before the truck arrives. Provide clear delivery instructions in the checkout notes and have a contact number available for the driver.
You can request tailgate spreading at checkout, but spreading is performed at the driver’s discretion and depends on site conditions and safety. If spreading is essential, consider hiring a local contractor for a full install or be prepared to help with distribution after delivery. We recommend noting when you need spreading so the driver is aware on arrival.
Materials reflect regional sourcing, so color, texture, and gradation can vary based on local geology. Natural aggregates like gravel, sand, dirt, stone will have inherent variation and photos may not be exact. If the delivered material differs significantly from your expectations, contact customer service and refer to our refund and resolution procedures.
Effective solutions combine proper grading, permeable surface materials, and layered aggregates to direct water away from structures. Using a stable base layer with a coarser drainage layer underneath can reduce runoff and erosion on slopes. For complex sites or significant erosion, consult a landscaper or engineer to design a durable solution suited to Lochbuie’s climate.
Cost depends on the type of material, the quantity ordered, delivery distance, and whether you hire labor for spreading and compaction. Minimum orders typically start at 3 tons, and additional charges may apply for next-day delivery or difficult site access. Use our online calculator and request a quote to get a detailed estimate for your specific project.
