Manufactured, washed sand in the Type B size range is a high-quality construction aggregate produced by mechanically crushing and screening stone, then thoroughly washing it to remove fines, dust, and impurities. This process results in clean, consistently graded sand particles that are ideal for a variety of construction and landscaping applications.




The Type B size range offers a balanced particle size-coarser than masonry sand but finer than gravel-making it especially suitable for use as pipe bedding, backfill, and underlayment for pavers or slabs. The manufactured aspect ensures angular grains, which interlock well for stability, while the washing process minimizes dust and organic material, reducing the risk of settling and improving drainage. Common uses include utility trench bedding, concrete production, and as a leveling base for patios and walkways. Pros include excellent compaction, reliable drainage, and a cleaner work environment; however, the angular texture may not be ideal for play areas or decorative applications where a softer, rounded sand is preferred.
