Reject sand is a byproduct of the sand screening process, consisting of coarse particles and fines that do not meet the specifications for standard construction sand. Unlike clean or washed sand, reject sand contains a mix of larger grains, small stones, and some clay or silt, resulting in a less uniform texture.




The unique composition of reject sand makes it ideal for use as a base material in construction projects where high compaction and stability are required, such as under concrete slabs, driveways, or pavers. Its irregular particle sizes help lock materials in place, reducing shifting and settling over time. However, due to its higher fines content, reject sand is not recommended for applications needing excellent drainage or a smooth finish, such as playgrounds or decorative landscaping. Overall, reject sand offers a cost-effective solution for bulk fill and sub-base needs in both residential and commercial settings.
