Sand Chip

Sand chip is a specialized aggregate consisting of small, angular fragments of sand-sized material. Unlike traditional fine sand, sand chip features a coarser, more granular texture, which enhances its stability and interlocking properties. This makes it particularly effective for applications where improved traction or compaction is desired.




The chip attribute means the particles are angular rather than rounded, allowing them to lock together more securely. This reduces shifting and settling, making sand chip an excellent choice for bedding under pavers, as a base for patios, or as a leveling layer in hardscape projects. It is also commonly used in concrete mixes to improve strength and reduce shrinkage. While sand chip offers superior stability and drainage compared to finer sands, it may be less suitable for applications requiring a smooth finish, such as playgrounds or sandboxes.
