Bank Run Sand

Bank run sand is a naturally occurring, unprocessed sand sourced directly from riverbanks or pits. Unlike manufactured or screened sands, bank run sand contains a mix of sand, small stones, and occasional clay or silt, reflecting its natural state. This composition gives it a coarser texture and a variable particle size, making it distinct from more refined sand products.




The unprocessed nature of bank run sand makes it an economical choice for a variety of construction and landscaping projects. It is commonly used as a base material for roads, driveways, and building pads, where compaction and stability are important. Its natural blend of materials provides good drainage while still offering enough binding properties for foundational support. However, because it is not washed or screened, bank run sand may contain more fines and organic material, which can affect its suitability for applications requiring a clean, uniform appearance or precise gradation, such as masonry or playgrounds.
