Coarse, abrasive sand is a naturally occurring or manufactured aggregate characterized by its larger, gritty particles and rough texture. It is commonly used as a base layer for pavers, concrete slabs, and flagstone patios, where its structure prevents shifting and promotes water flow. In commercial settings, it is favored for sandblasting, traction on icy surfaces, and as a component in industrial mixes. While its roughness makes it less suitable for playgrounds or decorative finishes, it excels in heavy-duty applications where compaction is less critical and drainage is a priority.
