Unwashed, crushed sand in a 3/8" minus size range is a versatile construction aggregate produced by mechanically crushing larger rocks into fine particles, with the largest pieces measuring up to 3/8 inch. The "minus" designation means the material includes a mix of sizes from fine dust up to 3/8", resulting in a well-graded blend.




The unwashed attribute means this sand retains natural fines and dust, which can enhance compaction but may introduce more dust during handling. Its crushed texture provides angular edges, improving interlock and stability in applications like sub-base layers, pipe bedding, and backfill. This material is commonly used in residential and commercial projects for compacted bases under pavers, walkways, and slabs, as well as for general fill. While its excellent compaction makes it ideal for structural support, the presence of fines may not be suitable for decorative or drainage-focused uses where clean, washed sand is preferred.
