3/8” De-Icing Sand

3/8” de-icing sand is a coarse, granular material specifically processed for use in winter safety applications. Produced by screening natural sand to a uniform 3/8” size, this product offers excellent traction on icy surfaces without the fine dust associated with smaller sand grades.

The 3/8” size is ideal for de-icing because its larger particles remain on the surface longer, providing reliable grip for vehicles and pedestrians. Unlike finer sands, this coarser grade is less likely to be blown away by wind or washed off by light melting, making it a practical choice for driveways, parking lots, sidewalks, and roadways during winter months. While it may not be suitable for applications requiring a smooth finish or compaction, its primary advantage is enhanced safety and reduced slip hazards in icy conditions.
