#1 Stone in a 1.5” to 3.5” Size Range

#1 stone in a 1.5" to 3.5" size range is a large, crushed aggregate commonly produced from durable natural rock such as granite, limestone, or trap rock. The material is created by mechanically crushing and screening quarried stone to achieve consistent, oversized pieces.




The substantial size of #1 stone makes it ideal for heavy-duty applications where stability and drainage are critical. Its large, irregular pieces resist compaction, allowing water to flow freely through the aggregate. This makes it a preferred choice for base layers in road construction, erosion control, septic system drainage fields, and large-scale commercial site work. In residential settings, #1 stone is often used for French drains, culvert bedding, and as a foundation for retaining walls. While its size provides excellent drainage and load-bearing capacity, it is not suitable for finished surfaces or areas requiring a smooth, compacted base.
