1” Drain Rock

1” drain rock is a coarse, naturally or mechanically crushed stone aggregate, typically sourced from riverbeds or quarries. The stones are screened to ensure a consistent size range of approximately 1 inch, making them ideal for applications where effective drainage and stability are required.

The 1” size is large enough to allow water to flow freely between the stones, reducing the risk of clogs and promoting rapid drainage. This makes it a popular choice for French drains, septic system leach fields, retaining wall backfill, and other drainage solutions. It is also commonly used as a base layer for driveways, walkways, and under concrete slabs, where its size helps prevent soil migration and provides a stable foundation.

While 1” drain rock is excellent for drainage and erosion control, it is not suitable for areas requiring compaction or a smooth surface, such as finished patios or playgrounds. Its coarse texture and size make it less comfortable for foot traffic but highly effective for managing water flow and supporting heavy loads.
