#1 Stone in a 1.5” to 4” Size Range

#1 stone in a 1.5" to 4" size range is a large, crushed aggregate commonly produced from durable natural rock such as granite, limestone, or trap rock. The material is created by mechanically crushing and screening quarried stone to achieve the specified size range, resulting in angular pieces that interlock well.




The large size of #1 stone makes it ideal for heavy-duty applications where stability and drainage are critical. Its substantial size prevents compaction, allowing water to flow freely through the aggregate, which is especially beneficial for base layers in road construction, erosion control, and large-scale drainage projects. In residential settings, #1 stone is often used as a base for driveways, under foundations, or for creating French drains. While its size provides excellent load-bearing capacity and drainage, it is not suitable for areas requiring a smooth or compacted surface. Its angular shape helps lock the stones in place, reducing movement under heavy loads.
