5/8” Top Course Aggregate

5/8" Top Course aggregate is a crushed stone material specifically graded to a 5/8-inch size, making it ideal for use as a top layer in road and driveway construction. Produced by mechanically crushing larger rocks, this material features a blend of angular particles and fines, which allows for excellent compaction and a stable, smooth surface.




The 5/8" size strikes a balance between drainage and compaction, ensuring water can pass through while still providing a firm, rut-resistant finish. Its well-graded composition makes it a preferred choice for residential driveways, parking areas, and as a final layer over base courses in both commercial and municipal projects. The inclusion of fines helps lock the aggregate in place, reducing dust and movement under traffic. However, because of its compacting nature, it is less suitable for applications where maximum drainage is required.
