#2 stone in a 1.5" to 2.5" size range is a large, crushed aggregate commonly produced from durable natural rock such as limestone, granite, or gravel. The stones are mechanically crushed and screened to ensure consistent sizing, resulting in angular pieces that interlock well when used in construction applications.




The larger size of #2 stone makes it ideal for heavy-duty uses where stability and drainage are priorities. Its substantial size prevents it from compacting tightly, which allows water to flow freely through the aggregate-making it a preferred choice for base layers in road construction, railroad ballast, erosion control, and large drainage projects. In residential settings, #2 stone is often used as a base for driveways, parking pads, or as a foundation for retaining walls. While its size offers excellent load-bearing and drainage properties, it is not suitable for finished surfaces or areas requiring a smooth, compacted base.
