Aggregate Base Course in the 3" to 6" size range is a foundational construction material composed of crushed stone or gravel. This coarse aggregate is produced by mechanically crushing larger rocks, resulting in angular fragments that interlock well when compacted.




The larger 3" to 6" size range is ideal for heavy-duty base layers, providing excellent load-bearing capacity and superior drainage. Its substantial particle size makes it less prone to compaction, which is beneficial for stabilizing soft or wet subgrades and preventing settling over time. Common applications include road and highway sub-bases, large parking lots, industrial yards, and areas requiring robust structural support. While its size offers strength and drainage, it is not suitable for finished surfaces or areas requiring a smooth, compacted finish.
