Aggregate Base Course with a ballast attribute in the 1.5" to 2" size range is a coarse, durable construction material composed of crushed stone or gravel. The larger 1.5" to 2" size and ballast attribute make this aggregate ideal for applications requiring superior load-bearing capacity and drainage. Its substantial particle size prevents compaction, allowing water to flow freely-making it especially suitable for railroad ballast, sub-base layers in heavy-duty roads, and large-scale drainage projects. In residential and commercial settings, it is often used beneath concrete slabs, foundations, and as a stabilizing layer for driveways and parking lots.
