Hello Gravel Guarantee
Right material. Safe delivery. Real help if we miss.
How it works
- We fix what we control. Wrong material, confirmed fulfillment errors, or orders we cannot complete are reviewed for replacement, refund, or another fair resolution.
- Safe delivery comes first. The driver chooses the final safe dump location on site. If your requested spot is not safely reachable, we deliver to the closest safe location available.
- Plans change. You can cancel free up to one full business day before delivery. Next-business-day orders cannot be cancelled once confirmed.
- Natural material varies. Color, texture, moisture, dust, and sizing can vary by quarry, supplier, season, and region.

The how-to
How a gravel driveway comes together
A driveway that lasts is built in layers: packed dirt on the bottom, landscape fabric if you want extra insurance, 4–6 inches of compacted road base for strength, and 2–4 inches of driveway gravel on top.
Refreshing an existing driveway? You only need the top layer.
- 01
Mark and clear
Outline the driveway, clear grass and topsoil, and pack the dirt down firm.
- 02
Lay the fabric
Roll landscape fabric over the dirt so your gravel never sinks into it. See gear.
- 03
Compact the base
Spread 4–6 inches of road base and compact it. This is what carries the weight of your cars.
- 04
Level the top
Spread 2–4 inches of driveway gravel, level it out, and slope the center slightly so rain runs off.

Gear for new driveways
Building from dirt? These two things make a gravel driveway last a lot longer. We don’t sell them — these links go to Amazon.
Landscape fabric (geotextile) (opens in new tab)
Goes under everything on a new driveway. Keeps gravel from sinking into the dirt, so your driveway stays firm for years longer.
Gravel stabilization grid (opens in new tab)
Honeycomb panels that lock gravel in place. Worth it on slopes, soft ground, or anywhere you want zero ruts.

Optional
Hire someone to spread it
Spreading gravel is real work — most driveways are more than an afternoon’s job. These marketplaces have local pros for anything from a refresh to a full build with compaction.
Thumbtack (opens in new tab)
Compare rated local driveway contractors — best for full builds and bigger loads.
TaskRabbit (opens in new tab)
Book an hourly helper to spread it — a good fit for a refresh top-up.
Hello Gravel delivers material only — we don’t spread, grade, or compact. These are independent third-party marketplaces; we’re not affiliated with, and not responsible for, the quality or conduct of laborers you hire through them. Links may include your delivery ZIP so results start out local.
