Pine Bark Mulch

Natural, undyed pine bark for beds and trees

Pine bark mulch is shredded bark from pine trees with a natural brown color and no dye. It holds moisture, keeps weeds down, and breaks down into organic matter that improves the soil underneath. It leans slightly acidic, which suits azaleas, camellias, hydrangeas, and blueberries. Texture varies by location.

Pine bark mulch is shredded bark from pine trees, not dyed wood chips, so its brown color is natural.

Also called: pine bark, shredded pine bark, pine mulch, fir bark, natural bark mulch, pine bark fines.

Hello Gravel cared more about the structural integrity of my house than they did about making the sale. I was trying to place an order to buy dirt to place between a retaining wall and footings at the base of columns that hold up my house. They could have just sold me anything for profit, but they told me to go get the advice of a structural engineer, knowing that the structural engineer would probably order the dirt himself and possibly from another company. That’s integrity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use the calculator with your bed length, width, and depth. A 2 to 3 inch layer is standard. One cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches deep.

Pine bark is lighter, lasts a bit longer, and leans slightly acidic. Hardwood mulch mats down tighter and comes in dyed colors. Pick pine bark for acid-loving plants and a natural look.

Only slightly, and slowly. That's a plus for acid-loving plants and harmless for most others.

Pine bark is light, so heavy rain can move it on slopes and near downspouts. Use edging, and keep it on flat or gently sloped beds.

Keep mulch pulled back a few inches from trunks, stems, and siding. Piling it against bark or the foundation traps moisture and invites rot and insects.

By dump truck, straight to your property. The driver dumps it in one pile where you choose. Pick a firm, level spot the truck can reach, clear of cars and overhead wires. Delivery is included in the price you see.
