Decomposed granite is fine, sandy granite that packs into a smooth, firm surface. Crushed granite is bigger and chunkier. It drains faster and looks like gravel, but it won't pack as smooth. Pick DG for patios and seating areas, crushed granite for beds and textured paths.
Yes. Angular stone locks together better than rounded rock. Rake it level, then run a plate compactor or roller over it for a firmer path.
