Sand in a 3” Minus Size Range

Sand in a 3" minus size range is a coarse, granular material where particles range from fine grains up to 3 inches in diameter. Unlike standard fine sand, this product includes a blend of sand and small gravel or stone fragments, resulting from natural deposits or mechanical crushing and screening processes.




The larger particle size and mixed composition make 3" minus sand ideal for heavy-duty construction applications where stability and drainage are important. It is commonly used as a sub-base for roadways, driveways, and parking lots, as well as for backfilling trenches and stabilizing soft or wet ground. The coarse texture allows for excellent drainage and compaction, reducing the risk of settling or shifting over time. However, its roughness and larger particles make it less suitable for finish surfaces or areas requiring a smooth, decorative appearance.
