The 4" minus sizing means that all particles are 4 inches or smaller, allowing for effective compaction while still providing substantial bulk. The presence of both large and small particles helps fill voids efficiently, making it ideal for building up subgrades, backfilling trenches, and creating stable bases for roads, driveways, and building pads. Its excellent compaction properties make it a preferred choice for projects requiring a solid foundation, though it is less suitable for applications needing precise grading or a smooth finish.




Commonly used in both residential and commercial construction, 4" minus fill material is valued for its affordability and ability to stabilize soft or uneven ground. However, due to its coarse nature, it is not recommended for surface layers where a finer, more decorative finish is desired.
