Hello Gravel was easy to work with and made sprucing up my gravel driveway seamless. They stayed in contact throughout the process and made sure everything went well. The driver was awesome, and even though he was not obligated too, he dumped the gravel along the driveway as he pulled back and fourth which saved me tons of time in spreading it out. I would absolutely use Hello Gravel again and recommend it to friends and family. 10/10

Hello Gravel was seriously the easiest way to get gravel delivered, and their pricing is very competitive. I realize that they are contracting with a local supplier, so I am probably paying a little bit of a premium, or they are getting a better deal with them than I could, but the ability to place the order online, respond to ONE text message and have gravel show up is priceless.

Drop off was perfect. The driver was so helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant. I used to have a ‘swimming Pool’ in my driveway when it rained – now no longer. The driver dropped just the right amount at the right spots. Ever so grateful.

Multi-use crushed stone for home & landscape projects. Ranging from ¾” to 1” in size, #57 stone is a versatile product used for concrete production, drainage applications, driveways, parking lots, and as base material under slabs and footings. Large enough to provide drainage but small enough to lock together when applied and create a stable base and a relatively smooth surface.
(#89 Stone) A smaller crushed stone perfect for walkways and more decorative applications. Pathways will come to life with garden-like aesthetics and be comfortable under foot. Also suitable for various groundcover applications, as an underlayment for patio paver and turf projects, for playground surfacing and for filling gaps between larger stones.
Phoenix, with its population of over 1.6 million residents and rapidly growing metro area of 5.19 million, presents unique landscaping challenges. The Sonoran Desert climate, with extreme summer heat reaching 110°F+ and minimal rainfall (just 8 inches annually), requires specific materials that can withstand harsh conditions while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
As the 5th largest city in the United States and fastest-growing major city, Phoenix sees constant construction and renovation. Our materials are specifically selected for desert landscaping, xeriscaping projects, and heat-resistant applications that work with Phoenix’s unique environment.
Local Tip: Driveway Gravel is Phoenix’s #1 choice for driveways and walkways — it compacts well, doesn’t retain heat like asphalt, and complements desert landscaping perfectly. We recommend 3/4″ for the best solution in our dry climate.
Summer Tip: We offer early AM delivery slots June–September to beat the heat!

What’s the best gravel for Phoenix driveways?
Driveway gravel is by far the most popular choice for Phoenix driveways. It compacts well in our dry climate, doesn’t retain heat like asphalt, and provides excellent drainage during monsoon season. We recommend 3/4″ driveway gravel for driveways — it locks together better than larger sizes and creates a stable, attractive surface that complements desert landscaping.
Do you deliver during Phoenix summer heat?
Yes! From June through September, we offer special early morning delivery slots to help you beat the heat. We recommend scheduling installation for early morning or evening hours when temperatures are below 100°F. Our drivers carry extra water and are trained in heat safety protocols. Many customers prefer to have materials delivered one evening and work on installation the next morning.
What materials work best for Phoenix xeriscaping?
For xeriscaping in Phoenix, we recommend: decorative river rock (1–3″) for accent areas, 3/8″ or 3/4″ gravel for ground cover, decomposed granite for pathways, and larger boulders for landscape features. These materials require no water, reflect heat rather than absorbing it, and maintain their color despite intense UV exposure. Many customers combine different sizes and colors to create visually interesting, low-maintenance desert landscapes.
How much material do I need for a typical Phoenix yard?
A typical Phoenix front yard (2,000–3,000 sq ft) converting from grass to desert landscaping usually needs 15–20 tons of decorative rock at 2–3″ depth. For comparison, the average Phoenix backyard project (3,000–4,000 sq ft) requires 20–25 tons. Pool surrounds typically need 8–10 tons, and RV pads require 20–30 tons depending on size. Deeper coverage (3–4″) helps prevent weed growth and looks more professional.
