Decomposed Granite
Known for its natural look, this compact, durable material drains well and holds up in high-traffic areas. Made from crushed and weathered granite down to a mix of fine gravel and sand—best for patios, paths, driveways, and landscape projects. Can range in color from light brown and tan to reddish and gray, depending on the natural stone color in the region.
Road Base
(Class 5 | ABC | Crusher Run) A mixture of crushed limestone or granite, gravel, and sand, ranging from 1 ½” in size down to fines (small particles). Commonly used for constructing roads, driveway bases, parking lots, and other paved and unpaved surfaces. Intended to be compacted, hence the inclusion of fines within the material to provide support and be resistant to erosion and shifting.

Why Fate Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Fate has a city population of 706 and is part of a larger metro area population of 2.5+ million. With an annual growth rate of 2.50% annually, the area is seeing ongoing residential and infrastructure development that drives steady demand for reliable aggregates. Fate’s climate—about 228/year sunny days, an annual rainfall of 34.00 inches, and hardiness zone 8b—means homeowners favor low-maintenance landscaping and materials that handle both strong sun and intermittent heavy rain. For many projects in this fast-growing community, quality gravel is chosen for driveways, pathways, erosion control, and drainage solutions because it sheds water, reduces mud, and keeps surfaces stable under repeated use.Popular Projects in Fate This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Fate gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Fate.
Delivered gravel prices in Fate vary by material, supplier, and distance, but a common range for typical driveway-grade gravels is about $25 to $65 per ton (roughly $35 to $90 per cubic yard). Specialty stones (decorative river rock or colored gravels) can cost more and may carry minimum-order or delivery fees. Hello Gravel requires a 3-ton minimum and offers standard delivery in 2+ business days with a next-day option (before noon CST) for an extra fee, so get a quote for an exact delivered price.
Crushed limestone is the most common choice around Fate because it compacts well, handles car traffic, and is widely available in North Texas. Pea gravel is popular for patios and walkways for its soft look and drainage but it can shift under vehicle traffic. River rock and decorative gravels are used for accents and drainage areas, while crushed granite is chosen for a modern look; local availability drives which option is easiest and cheapest.
Hot summers don't damage gravel, but sunlight can bleach some decorative colors and cause fines to bake into a hard crust. Heavy rains can wash fines and cause rutting or low spots, so proper grading, edging, and drainage are important in Fate to prevent runoff damage. Expect to regrade and add material after big storms and plan periodic maintenance (grading and topping up) annually or after severe weather.
Hello Gravel connects Fate customers with local quarries and landscape suppliers serving Rockwall County and nearby Dallas suburbs; we do not operate branded trucks but coordinate trusted haulers. Standard delivery lead time is 2+ business days, with next-day delivery available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee; specialty or colored materials may take 3-7 business days. Always check your zip code on our site and contact our team if you need faster scheduling or larger commercial orders.
Use this quick guide (assumes 1 cubic yard ≈ 1.4 tons): A 1-car driveway (10'x20') at 4" needs about 2.5 yd3 (≈3.5 tons) and at 6" about 3.7 yd3 (≈5.2 tons). A 2-car driveway (20'x20') at 4" needs about 4.9 yd3 (≈6.9 tons) and at 6" about 7.4 yd3 (≈10.4 tons). A 500 sq ft patio at 2" requires about 3.1 yd3 (≈4.4 tons). A 100 ft farm road 12' wide at 6" needs about 22.2 yd3 (≈31.1 tons) and at 8" about 29.6 yd3 (≈41.5 tons). Adjust quantities for your chosen depth and always round up to allow for compaction and waste.
For light cars, local contractors often recommend a compacted base of 4" to 6" of crushed stone with a 2" wearing layer of smaller gravel; compact in 2-3" lifts with a plate compactor or roller. For heavy trucks, contractors commonly use 8" to 12" of compacted crushed stone base, sometimes with geotextile fabric and larger base material, plus a 2" to 3" wearing course. Because Fate soils can be clayey, add thickness or fabric in poor-draining spots and compact each lift to near-full density for best long-term performance.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
