Why Southwest Area Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Union Park has a city population of 200,000 and sits inside a broader metro with a population of 2.5+ million, experiencing a steady annual growth rate of 2.50% annually. That steady expansion translates to reliable demand for residential and infrastructure projects—new driveways, yard regrades, patios, and routine maintenance—which keeps bulk-material needs consistent across neighborhoods. With 228 sunny days per year and annual rainfall of 33.50 inches, homeowners face alternating dry spells and seasonal wetness; combined with the region's hardiness zone of 8b and generally moderate temperatures, this calls for materials that balance drainage performance, UV and moisture resistance, and support for planting. Quality bulk supplies—gravel, sand, topsoil, mulch, and base stone—are essential for managing water flow, stabilizing surfaces, and creating resilient landscapes as the area grows.Popular Projects in Southwest Area This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Southwest Area Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Southwest Area.
Common bulk materials include gravel, sand, dirt, stone and mulch, each chosen for different tasks like driveways, patios, grading, or planting beds. Regional suppliers source materials that reflect local geology, so color and texture may vary across the Southwest Area. If you are unsure which group of materials fits your project, use our material quiz or contact our team for guidance.
Start by identifying the project goal: drainage, load-bearing, appearance, or weed suppression. Consider the local climate and traffic—materials that compact well are better for driveways, while decorative mixes work for beds and pathways. Use our material descriptions and calculator, or call our experts to match a material group to your specific use and budget.
Freeze-thaw cycles and wet springs can cause settling and frost heave, so choose materials and installation methods that handle freeze-thaw movement and shed water. Well-draining base layers and proper compaction improve long-term performance across seasons. Plan installations for drier months when possible to avoid compaction and delivery access issues.
Late spring through early fall is the busiest season with the most material availability and ideal installation conditions, while late fall and winter deliveries are possible but can be affected by weather. Prices and lead times may vary with seasonal demand and local supplier schedules, so booking ahead is recommended for peak months. Use our online scheduling to secure a preferred delivery date.
Prices depend on material type, quantity, distance from local quarries or pits, delivery access, and seasonal demand. Additional costs can include small-load fees, difficult access charges, or optional services like tailgate spreading at the driver's discretion. For an accurate estimate, request a quote through our site or use the pricing shown for your zip code.
Standard delivery generally takes 2+ business days and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Minimum orders are usually 3 tons, and deliveries are made by contracted dump truck fleets (typically tri-axle). Choose your preferred delivery date at checkout and add delivery notes for access or placement preferences.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but it is not guaranteed and depends on access and safety. Expect trucks to need clear entry, level ground to dump, and sufficient turning radius; overhead wires, narrow lanes, or weight-restricted streets may limit placement. Indicate staging details in the Order Notes and consider a nearby drop zone if direct access to the final area is restricted.
Assess existing soil type, slope, drainage, and compaction needs—clay, loam, and silty soils all affect drainage and the support needed beneath a new surface. Steeper slopes may require terracing or retaining edges and extra sub-base material, while poor drainage usually calls for a permeable base or improved grading. Consulting our team with photos and measurements helps match the right material and preparation steps.
Yes. Many cities, towns, and HOAs in the Southwest Area have rules about driveway changes, permitted surfaces, weight limits, and visible landscape materials. Check with your local municipality and HOA before ordering, and mention permits or special rules in your order notes so we can coordinate delivery details. If you need help identifying local requirements, our team can suggest typical points to ask your local office.
Use our online material calculator to convert square feet and desired depth into cubic yards and tons, since density varies by material. As a general guide, one cubic yard typically weighs between about 1.2 and 1.5 tons depending on the material and moisture content. When in doubt, order a little extra for grading and settling or consult our team with your project dimensions for a recommended quantity.
Service offerings vary by supplier; many local providers focus on delivery only, while some partner contractors may offer spreading and installation for an extra fee. Tailgate spreading is sometimes available at the driver's discretion but is not guaranteed. Ask about installation options when you request a quote if you want help beyond delivery.
Common limitations include street weight restrictions, narrow roads, low-hanging utilities, and limited on-site staging space that can prevent trucks from dumping directly at the work area. Plan for a nearby drop zone if direct driveway access is not possible and note any restrictions at checkout so drivers can plan routes. Our team can often advise on truck size and delivery approach based on your address and notes.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.

This involves pulling the truck forward as material is being dumped to make it easier for you to distribute material after delivery.
