Why Boone County Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Boone County's population of 26,743, combined with its position in a metro area of 2.5+ million and a steady 2.50% annual growth rate, means continued demand for home improvements, new builds, and outdoor upgrades. That steady growth translates into more driveways, patios, garden renovations, and small-scale site work where bulk materials matter. Local climate and geography further shape those needs: with 33.50 inches of annual rainfall and 228 sunny days per year in a hardiness zone of 8b, homeowners balance wet-season drainage with long stretches of sun exposure. That mix makes quality bulk materials—gravel, sand, dirt, mulch, and stone—important for reliable drainage, stable base layers, soil health, and UV- and weather-resistant finishes. Choosing the right aggregates and soils up front reduces rework and helps projects perform through seasonal conditions.Popular Projects in Boone County This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Boone County Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Boone County.
Start by thinking about use: driveways need durable, compactable materials while garden beds and pathways can use looser, decorative aggregates. In Boone County, consider local climate and drainage—materials sourced nearby will reflect regional geology, so ask about texture and color. Use our material quiz or contact our team for help matching gravel, sand, dirt, stone to your project and budget.
Standard delivery generally requires at least 2 business days, and next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Lead times can vary by season and supplier availability, so pick your preferred date in checkout and contact us early for large or time-sensitive jobs. We will confirm the delivery window once the hauler is assigned.
Our minimum order is 3 tons, and materials are delivered by local dump truck fleets (typically tri-axle). Delivery drivers may perform limited tailgate spreading at their discretion; request this service at checkout but know it is not guaranteed. We coordinate with local suppliers so delivery method and truck size reflect local practices.
Boone County experiences freeze-thaw cycles and winter weather that can affect settling, compaction, and erosion. Choose materials that tolerate freeze-thaw movement and plan heavy installations outside the coldest months to improve compaction and stability. For winter deliveries, expect potential delays and discuss site protection or staging with your supplier.
Clay, loam, and sandy soils in the area affect water movement and compaction; poor drainage may require coarser base materials and proper subgrade preparation. Test for drainage and slope before ordering and allow extra material for grading or creating a base layer. Proper site prep is often more important than the final surface material for long-term performance.
Prices vary by material, quantity, and delivery distance; expect a range rather than a single number and include delivery and any spreading fees in your budget. Use quantity calculators to estimate tons needed and request a quote to see local rates. For larger jobs, factor in staging, site access, and possible permit costs when estimating total cost.
Local permits and right-of-way rules can affect driveways, large stockpiles, and curb access; requirements vary by township and municipality within Boone County. Check with your local building or planning office before you order and plan deliveries to avoid blocking public roads or violating setback rules. If you need guidance, our team can point you to local resources but cannot provide official permits.
Many common surface materials can be selected and installed to tolerate snow-plow traffic, but particle size, compaction, and edging all affect durability. For plow-friendly surfaces, choose materials and installation methods that resist displacement and provide a firm edge. Discuss your winter maintenance needs with our team or your contractor to pick an appropriate solution.
Use a simple calculation: area (square feet) times depth (in feet) times material density to estimate tons; our online calculator can convert measurements for you. Typical depths: 4-6 inches for pathways, 6-12 inches for driveways depending on traffic, and 8-12 inches for raised garden beds. When in doubt, order a little extra to account for compaction and grading.
Low-maintenance choices prioritize drainage, stability, and weed control, such as well-draining base layers topped with decorative aggregates and proper edging. Combining a weed barrier and appropriate depth reduces upkeep, and selecting regionally sourced materials helps ensure they perform in local conditions. Talk to our team about aesthetic preferences and maintenance goals so we can recommend suitable gravel, sand, dirt, stone combinations.
Because materials are regionally sourced, texture and color may vary from online photos—this is normal and part of local geology. Contact our customer service as soon as possible to request changes; we will do our best to accommodate modifications before processing or dispatch but cannot guarantee all changes. If there is an issue with delivery, reach out promptly so we can work toward a resolution per our policies.
Narrow driveways, overhead wires, steep slopes, and soft ground can limit truck access and affect where a driver can dump material. Provide clear access instructions at checkout and plan a staging area to minimize extra handling or double handling fees. If spreading is needed, request tailgate spreading at checkout and be prepared for the driver to assess feasibility on arrival.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
