Why West Hills Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
West Hills is a growing community of 74,038 people inside a larger metro region of 7.9+ million, and its steady 0.40% annual growth translates into consistent, long-term demand for home improvements, outdoor living upgrades, and small-scale construction. That modest but reliable expansion means homeowners are more often replacing driveways, adding patios, and reworking landscapes rather than building from scratch, so materials are chosen for durability and ease of installation. With 204 sunny days a year, 49.77 inches of annual rainfall, and a USDA hardiness zone of 9a, local projects must balance sun exposure and significant seasonal moisture. That combination calls for materials that manage runoff, resist erosion, and tolerate UV and wet-dry cycles: well-graded aggregates for drainage, stabilized bases for hardscapes, blended soils and mulches for plant health, and sands or fines where compaction matters. Quality bulk materials reduce returns, rework, and long-term maintenance in this specific local context.Popular Projects in West Hills This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - West Hills Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in West Hills.
Choose materials based on function, appearance, and drainage needs. For paths, driveways, and decorative areas, consider options from the gravel, sand, dirt, stone group that provide the right compaction and look; for planting beds, choose mixes that improve soil and retain moisture. Local suppliers in West Hills source materials that reflect regional geology, so check photos and ask about texture and color before ordering.
Measure the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover, then convert to cubic yards and to tons using a material calculator or our calculator tool. Different materials have different densities, so a ton covers different areas depending on material type and depth. For larger jobs, add 5-10% for compaction and waste.
Coverage varies by material and depth, but as a rough guideline one ton often covers about 80-100 square feet at 1 inch depth for denser materials. For deeper applications like a 3-inch mulch or base layer, that same ton will cover much less area. Use the calculator or contact our team with your dimensions for a more precise estimate.
Clear the delivery area of vehicles, low branches, and obstacles and choose a flat, accessible spot for the dump truck to offload. Protect driveways, lawns, and nearby plants if you want to avoid scuffs or spillage and mark the exact drop location in the Order Notes at checkout. If access is tight, mention it when ordering so we can match an appropriate truck and driver.
Standard delivery generally takes 2 or more business days, while next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Deliveries are made by contracted dump truck fleets, so you will receive a confirmation with an estimated window but not an absolute time guarantee. Minimum orders start at 3 tons, and you can select a preferred delivery date at checkout.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion and it can be requested at checkout, but it is not guaranteed. The driver will assess safety, access, and the type of material on arrival and may decline if conditions are unsafe or impractical. Plan to have tools or a crew ready in case you need to move or level material after delivery.
Bulk material is usually more cost-effective for medium to large projects because you avoid packaging and get lower per-ton pricing. Bagged materials can make sense for very small jobs, easy transport, or precise quantities, but they become more expensive per volume for bigger projects. Compare total material needs and convenience to decide which option fits your budget.
Start with a clear plan, accurate quantity calculations, and prioritize where premium materials matter most. Buying bulk through an online marketplace like Hello Gravel, choosing locally sourced materials, and grouping deliveries can reduce cost. Also consider phased installation to spread costs and use budget-friendly base materials in low-visibility areas.
West Hills has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters, so choose materials that handle seasonal drainage and moisture cycles. Regional sourcing means texture, color, and particle shape reflect local geology, which influences compaction and appearance. Ask suppliers about local performance for erosion control, drainage, and plant health.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible to request changes; modifications are easier before the order is processed and dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but changes are subject to supplier and hauler schedules and cannot be guaranteed. Review your order confirmation and have your order number ready when you call.
Report issues to customer service promptly with photos and details so we can work with the supplier and hauler to resolve the problem. We will follow our issue-resolution process and refer to our refund and returns policy as needed. Keep in mind natural materials have variations in color and texture due to regional sourcing.
Our deliveries are made by contracted dump trucks, typically tri-axle units, and minimum orders start at 3 tons. A single truckload can vary by region and material density, so the number of truck trips depends on the total tons you order and local hauling practices. If you need help visualizing truckload counts for planning or permits, contact our team with your order size and site details.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
