Why Oroville Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Oroville has a city population of 38,150 and sits within a larger metro region of 7.9+ million residents, and the steady growth rate of 0.40% annually points to ongoing demand for home updates, infill projects, and modest new construction. That steady, measured growth means many homeowners are planning staged improvements rather than large speculative development—so reliable access to bulk materials matters. Oroville's climate—with 204 sunny days per year, annual rainfall of 49.77 inches, and a USDA hardiness zone of 9a—creates a mix of needs: materials that support drainage and erosion control during wet months, sun- and heat-resistant finishes during long dry spells, and soil amendments that help plants thrive in a warm, variable climate. For landscaping and construction projects this translates into a preference for durable, locally sourced aggregates, soils that balance drainage and water retention, and mulches or sands that resist breakdown in sun and rain.Popular Projects in Oroville This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Oroville Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Oroville.
Start by matching the material to the job: think about load (cars or foot traffic), drainage needs, and the look you want. In Oroville's climate, pick materials that handle both hot, dry summers and wet winters; regional sourcing means texture and color can vary. Use our material calculator and quiz to compare options like gravel, sand, dirt, stone and contact our team for recommendations based on your specific site.
Consider slope, drainage, soil type, and proximity to Lake Oroville or creeks where erosion is a concern. Steeper or wetter spots need better drainage and erosion control; flatter, compacted areas may accept heavier aggregate. If access is tight or there are narrow roads, that can also limit delivery and placement options.
Measure length, width, and desired depth to calculate cubic yards, then use our online material calculator for a quick estimate. As a general rule, 1 cubic yard of bulk material often weighs roughly 1 to 1.5 tons depending on the type and moisture content, so check tons vs cubic yards when ordering. If you are unsure, contact our team with dimensions and the intended use and we can help refine the estimate.
Hello Gravel requires a 3-ton minimum order and delivers via contracted dump trucks, typically tri-axle, sourced locally. Standard delivery is 2+ business days, with a next-day option available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Delivery fees depend on distance, access, and order size; many areas offer free delivery, but you'll see any fees up front at checkout.
Yes. Make sure there's a clear drop area with room for a dump truck to approach, turn, and back up safely; watch for overhead wires, narrow gates, steep driveways, or low bridges. If access is tight, mention it in Order Notes and our team can advise; drivers may refuse unsafe drops and tailgate spreading is performed only at the driver's discretion.
Plan heavy deliveries and grading for the dry season when ground is firm; winter rains can delay work and increase erosion risk. During high-fire-season, check local advisories and permit rules—some projects near wildland areas may have extra restrictions or recommendations for defensible space and ignition-resistant materials. Always schedule early and confirm delivery as conditions change.
Local rules vary: some city or county permits and HOA regulations cover driveway changes, impervious surface, or visible material types. Check Oroville city code, Butte County requirements, and any HOA covenants before ordering. If you need documentation, we can provide delivery receipts and material descriptions for permit applications.
Clear the drop area of vehicles, debris, and landscaping and provide a direct access route for the truck. Mark utilities, call 811 if digging will follow, and place protective boards if you need to avoid truck ruts on lawns or soft soil. Communicate any special instructions in Order Notes so the driver knows what to expect.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading, but this service is at their discretion and depends on safety and access. You can request spreading at checkout, but understand there are no guarantees and additional labor may be required. For larger spreading or precise placement, plan to hire local labor or rent small equipment.
Prices and availability can fluctuate with season, local demand, and haul distance from regional suppliers. Peak landscaping season and extreme weather events can raise costs or extend lead times; Hello Gravel shows transparent pricing at checkout so you see any surcharges. If timing or budget is sensitive, consider ordering earlier or asking our team about best windows for delivery.
