Decomposed Granite
Known for its natural look, this compact, durable material drains well and holds up in high-traffic areas. Made from crushed and weathered granite down to a mix of fine gravel and sand—best for patios, paths, driveways, and landscape projects. Can range in color from light brown and tan to reddish and gray, depending on the natural stone color in the region.
Road Base
(Class 5 | ABC | Crusher Run) A mixture of crushed limestone or granite, gravel, and sand, ranging from 1 ½” in size down to fines (small particles). Commonly used for constructing roads, driveway bases, parking lots, and other paved and unpaved surfaces. Intended to be compacted, hence the inclusion of fines within the material to provide support and be resistant to erosion and shifting.

Why Sea Level Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Sea Level has a city population of 210 and sits inside a metro area population of 2.3+ million that is growing at an annual rate of 2.80%. With about 228 sunny days per year and 34.00 inches of annual rainfall in hardiness zone 8b, local homeowners face landscaping needs shaped by both sun and seasonal rain. That steady growth across the region is driving projects from driveway repairs to new patios and yard regrading. Homeowners look for aggregates that manage water, resist wAshout during storms, and stand up to sun exposure—qualities that reduce maintenance and extend the life of outdoor projects. Quality gravel is a practical choice when you need reliable drainage, stable walking surfaces, or a low-maintenance landscape finish.Popular Projects in Sea Level This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Sea Level gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Sea Level.
Yes — gravel can work well on low-lying pRoperties in Sea Level when installed with drainage in mind. Use a well-draining, angular crushed stone and build a slightly raised base with geotextile fabric to keep fines from wAshing out and to limit groundwater migration. Expect to do occasional top-ups after major storms or high tides.
Choose hard, angular aggregates such as wAshed crushed stone (3/4" or 1"), crushed rock #57, or granite-based mixes that resist breakdown from moisture and salt. Avoid soft, soluble materials and very fine mixes that can wAsh away or compact under tidal action. For edges prone to erosion, consider larger riprap or armor stone.
Measure the area in square feet and decide on depth, then use this formula: cubic yards = (area in sq ft x depth in inches) / 324. Multiply cubic yards by the material density (about 2,700 lb per cubic yard) and divide by 2,000 to get tons, or use our online material calculator for a fast result. Keep in mind our minimum order is 3 tons and order a little extra for settling and future maintenance.
For typical driveways, pathways, and yard projects, permits are often not required, but shoreline work, major grading, or projects inside regulated floodplains may need local or county approvals. Check Beaufort County planning or your local permitting office before Starting large installations or any work within the coastal buffer. When in doubt, contact our team and we can point you to local resources.
Tidal flooding and a high water table can wAsh fines, cause rutting, and reduce compaction over time, especially after storms. To improve longevity, install a stable base layer, cap with larger angular stone, use geotextile fabric, and provide positive drainage away from structures. Plan for routine maintenance and occasional replenishment after heavy storms.
For commercial or contractor jobs, specify a layered approach: a compacted subbase of larger crushed stone (#2 or #3), a binding layer if needed, and a finished surface of 57 stone or 3/4" crushed for driving surfaces. Specify wAshed material and include geotextile where soils are saturated; document compaction and drainage details in the spec to address local groundwater and storm events. Consider corrosion and material sourcing notes to account for salt exposure.
