Why Pope Field Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Pope Field is a community of 5,000 residents experiencing steady, incremental growth at 0.69% annually. That modest but persistent expansion translates into consistent demand for home repairs, landscaping refreshes, and small-scale construction projects rather than a sudden boom of large subdivisions. The area's climate — hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days annually and 33.90 inches of rainfall each year — supports a long working season but requires materials that balance drainage and durability. For homeowners that means choosing quality bulk materials across the board: topsoil and compost for planting beds, mulch for moisture retention, sand and gravel for drainage and base layers, and stone for edging and hardscapes. Local sourcing influences color and texture, so picking the right size, gradation, and quantity reduces rework and improves long-term performance in Pope Field conditions.Popular Projects in Pope Field This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Pope Field Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Pope Field.
Delivered prices vary by material type, local supply, delivery distance, and season. As a rule of thumb in the North Carolina region, expect a wide range depending on material and density; you can estimate cost per cubic yard and per ton, then multiply by the quantity you need, but exact rates are provided at checkout for your zip code. Contact our team or check the quote tool for a precise delivered price to Pope Field.
Most deliveries use dump trucks (typically tri-axle) and require clear access to the drop-off area; drivers will place material where safe and accessible. Our minimum order is 3 tons, standard delivery takes 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST with an extra fee. Tailgate spreading can be requested at checkout but is done at the driver’s discretion, and deliveries are performed by contracted local haulers rather than Hello Gravel branded trucks.
Calculate area (length x width) and multiply by desired depth to get cubic feet, then divide by 27 to convert to cubic yards. For example, a 20x20 pad at 4 inches deep needs about 5 cubic yards; a 200-foot driveway 12 feet wide at 3 to 4 inches depth needs roughly 18 to 30 cubic yards depending on depth. Convert cubic yards to tons using a material-specific density (commonly about 1.2 to 1.6 tons per cubic yard) to estimate delivered weight.
One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet, so coverage depends on depth. At 2 inches it covers about 162 square feet, at 3 inches about 108 square feet, and at 4 inches about 81 square feet. Use these figures to quickly estimate how many cubic yards you need for a planned depth.
Bulk mulch is generally cheaper per cubic yard than bagged mulch for medium to large projects, and we offer bulk deliveries where available in the Pope Field service area. Bagged mulch may be more convenient for very small projects or where storage is limited, but bulk deliveries reduce handling and packaging costs. Check minimum order requirements and schedule delivery through checkout.
Installed costs depend on material price per cubic yard, delivery fees, and labor for spreading and grading. For a 20x20 pad (about 5 cubic yards), use your quoted per-cubic-yard price plus delivery and expect a modest labor charge for spreading; for a 200-foot driveway (roughly 18 to 30 cubic yards) multiply the larger volume by your material and delivery rates and add labor, which is typically a significant portion of total cost. Use our material calculator and request a quote to get site-specific estimates for Pope Field.
For most medium and larger projects, bulk delivery is the most cost-effective option because you buy by the cubic yard and avoid handling many bags. For very small jobs under a few cubic yards, buying bags or renting a pickup may make sense to avoid minimum-order fees and delivery logistics. Quarry pickup can save money if you have a suitable truck and time, but consider hauling costs, loading fees, and local regulations before choosing that route.
Crushed gravel can be a lower-cost alternative for patios and driveways, offering good drainage and a more natural look, but it requires more maintenance and does not match concrete in durability or load-bearing capacity. For vehicle driveways you should build a stable subbase and choose the right mix to reduce rutting and migration. Consider long-term maintenance needs, appearance, and local climate before deciding between gravel, concrete, or other materials.
Ensure trucks can access the drop spot, keep overhead wires and trees trimmed, and remove vehicles or obstacles from the street or driveway before the scheduled delivery. Drivers need a firm surface to park on and may decline sites that are unsafe or likely to cause vehicle damage; add access notes at checkout and be available by phone on delivery day. If you need material placed in a specific spot, note that tailgate spreading is at the driver's discretion and not guaranteed.
Choose material based on function: stable, angular aggregates for driveways and bases; finer sand or stone for leveling and bedding; and dirt or topsoil for planting beds. Consider drainage, load requirements, aesthetics, and local climate when selecting material, and remember regional sourcing means color and texture can vary. Use our aggregate quiz or contact our team for help matching gravel, sand, dirt, and stone to your specific project.
