Why North Hills Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
North Hills has a city population of 60,000 and sits within a broader metro area of 2.4+ million residents, a profile that points to steady, ongoing demand for housing upgrades and infill development. A growth rate of 0.69% annually means project activity is likely to be consistent rather than boom-driven, so homeowners can expect a reliable market for renovations, driveway upgrades, and yard reconfigurations. The local climate—hardiness zone 8b with 228 sunny days and 33.90 inches of annual rainfall—supports year-round work but also creates mixed needs: materials must withstand sunlight and UV exposure while managing intermittent wet periods. For homeowners that means choosing durable, properly graded aggregates, soils, mulches, and sands that work together for drainage, plant health, and low maintenance. Contractors benefit from predictable, steady orders for a variety of bulk supplies as neighborhoods evolve.Popular Projects in North Hills This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - North Hills Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in North Hills.
Start by matching material performance to your project: think about load (vehicle traffic), drainage needs, appearance, and budget. In North Hills you should consider factors like slope and existing soil; use the Hello Gravel calculator and our aggregate quiz to compare options. If you need help, request guidance from our sales team to narrow choices among gravel, sand, dirt, stone. Always consider a layered approach (base, bedding, finish) for long-term performance.
North Hills experiences seasonal rain and occasional freeze-thaw cycles that influence settling and drainage. Local soils can be clayey or sandy depending on location, which affects how materials compact and drain. Choose materials and installation methods that promote good drainage and resist washout, and plan for frost heave in colder months.
Materials that allow water to pass through, used with proper grading, perform best for drainage and erosion control. A combination of coarser material for base layers and finer material for surface bedding is a common approach. Consider adding geotextile fabric or vegetation where erosion is a concern and confirm suitability with your contractor.
Spring through early fall is generally ideal for delivery and installation because drier conditions help compaction and spreading. Avoid scheduling major deliveries during heavy rains or after freeze events when trucks can cause rutting or materials may not set properly. If you need materials sooner, we offer a next-day delivery option for eligible orders placed before noon CST (additional fee applies).
Hello Gravel requires a minimum order of 3 tons and uses contracted dump trucks for delivery. Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days, with a next-day option available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Tailgate spreading may be offered at the driver's discretion; always request it at checkout and plan for possible limitations.
Measure the area (length x width) and decide on the required depth in inches, then convert to cubic yards and to tons if needed; our online material calculator can do this for you. As a rule, small landscaping projects can be estimated in cubic yards while driveways and larger jobs are often quoted in tons. When in doubt, add a 5-10% allowance for compaction and waste.
Yes, HOA rules and municipal codes can restrict visible materials, driveways, curb cuts, and the placement of bulk deliveries. Check with your homeowners association and the local building or public works department before ordering, especially if you plan to store material on the street or alter a driveway. Suppliers cannot know every local restriction, so confirming permits and rules is the customer's responsibility.
Delivery availability depends on supplier coverage for your zip code and on access to your property. Narrow streets, low overhead wires, steep driveways, and tight turns can limit dump truck access or require smaller trucks and additional fees. Enter site notes at checkout and contact customer service if access is constrained so we can coordinate the right truck and placement plan.
Suppliers provide and deliver bulk materials to the site; contractors are usually responsible for site preparation, spreading, compaction, and installation. Coordinate timing so materials arrive when contractors are ready to work to avoid on-site storage issues. If you need combined delivery and installation, ask for recommendations—some local contractors offer bundled services for an extra fee.
Clear the drop area of vehicles, furniture, and fragile landscaping, and mark utilities or areas you want the driver to avoid. Provide clear instructions in the Order Notes and create a stable access path for the truck to reduce the chance of damage. If you require spreading, request it at checkout but expect the driver to assess safety and feasibility upon arrival.
Materials are sourced regionally, so color, texture, and particle shape can vary based on local geology; photos are representative but not exact. If the delivered material differs significantly from your expectations, contact Hello Gravel customer service promptly with photos and order details so we can review options. Review our policies and speak to our team for next steps; we will work to resolve issues fairly.
Some local suppliers and contractors in the North Carolina region offer combined delivery and installation packages, but availability varies by area and crew schedules. Hello Gravel can connect you with suppliers and haulers; if you need installation, request quotes for combined service and check reviews and references. Always confirm scope, timing, and responsibilities in writing before work begins.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
