Why Livingston County Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Livingston County has a population of 35,730 and sits within a growing metro region of 2.5+ million people that is expanding at about 3.30% annually. That steady growth translates into rising demand for home improvement, new construction, and infrastructure updates—so homeowners and contractors increasingly need reliable access to bulk materials on scheduled timelines. With 152 sunny days per year and 33.50 inches of annual rainfall in a hardiness zone of 8b, local projects must balance drainage needs with periods of dry heat. In practice this means using a mix of well-graded bases, drainage-friendly sands, moisture-retaining soils, and organic mulches depending on the task. Locally sourced bulk materials reduce lead times, match regional soil chemistry, and perform more predictably, helping projects stay on budget and withstand the local climate.Popular Projects in Livingston County This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Livingston County Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Livingston County.
Demand tends to be highest near population centers and busy townships in Livingston County, but customers across rural areas also order regularly for driveways, farms, and landscaping. If you live in a town or along well-traveled county roads you are likely to have more supplier options and faster delivery windows. Check your zip code on our site to see local availability and common delivery zones.
Hello Gravel requires a 3-ton minimum order, which aligns with common local hauler minimums in the area. Standard delivery is usually 2+ business days, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Delivery timing depends on supplier schedules and local truck availability.
Delivery fees depend on distance from the local supplier, truck type, and site access; many orders in Livingston County qualify for free delivery while others may include a mileage or small fuel surcharge. Because Hello Gravel works with local suppliers, prices are transparent at checkout so you see any delivery fee before you pay. Larger or harder-to-access jobs can incur additional charges for special handling.
Buying by the cubic yard or ton is typically more cost-effective for larger projects than purchasing many bags, since bulk pricing spreads the hauling and handling cost over more material. Exact savings vary by material and supplier, but for beds, driveways, or large fills you will usually find bulk delivery is the better value. Use our material calculator to compare bulk volumes with bag counts for your project.
Lead times are commonly 2+ business days for standard delivery, with a next-day option if you order before noon CST and pay any applicable fee. Deliveries are scheduled in a daypart window rather than an exact time, and you will get a confirmation with an estimated delivery day. Weather and local demand can affect windows, so plan buffer days for time-sensitive projects.
Some drivers may offer tailgate spreading at their discretion, and you can request this service at checkout, but this is not guaranteed and depends on safety, access, and the hauler's policy. If you need guaranteed spreading or precise grading, hire a local contractor and note your requirements in the order notes so we can alert the supplier. Expect spreading rates to vary by crew, typically quoted per hour or per cubic yard when provided.
Local suppliers in the Illinois Region stock a variety of materials suited to area projects, including landscaping mixes, crushed stone sizes, screened soils, and sand. Colors and textures reflect regional geology, so appearance and composition can vary from supplier to supplier. If color or grain size is important, add preferences in your order notes and ask for photos or samples where available.
Yes. Narrow driveways, low-hanging wires, soft ground, steep grades, and long private lanes can limit where dump trucks can safely place material. Provide clear access notes, a firm turnaround area, and parking instructions when ordering so the hauler can plan. If on-site placement is restricted, most drivers can do curbside or roadside drops, but additional handling or short-haul fees may apply.
Suppliers and contractors generally follow standard depth guidelines for different applications, such as recommended depths for mulch, base material, or fill, but exact practices vary by job and material. If you have a target depth, provide bed dimensions and desired depth when ordering so you receive the right volume and so crews can quote spreading if available. For critical structural work, consult a contractor to confirm compaction and depth requirements.
Many local suppliers offer contractor pricing or volume discounts for large, repeat, or off-season orders, and Hello Gravel can surface those options when available. Seasonal promotions are common in slower months, so check our site or contact our sales team for current offers and contractor account options. For the best rates, provide estimated annual volumes or recurring delivery needs.
Provide the delivery address, bed or area dimensions (length, width, desired depth), preferred delivery date range, and any access notes such as gate codes, driveway surface, or low clearances. Photos of the delivery area and clear instructions about where to place material help haulers plan and reduce onsite surprises. With those details we can give a clearer volume estimate and call out any special fees.
Measure the area you want to cover (length and width) and decide on the desired depth, then use a volume calculator or our material calculator to convert cubic feet to cubic yards or tons. As a rule of thumb, 1 cubic yard covers about 80 square feet at 1 inch depth; adjust for compaction or slope and add 5-10% for waste or uneven grade. If you prefer help, use our aggregate quiz or contact our team with your measurements for a quick estimate.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
