Why Irving Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Irving is a small but active community with a city population of 710, and it sits within a larger metro area of 2.6+ million people. That local and regional growth—at an annual growth rate of 1.20%—translates into steady demand for home improvements, infill construction, and outdoor projects rather than a sudden building boom. Irving’s climate and geography, including hardiness zone 8b, 228 sunny days per year, and annual rainfall of 35.50 inches, support a long working season for landscaping and many exterior projects. Those conditions favor materials that balance drainage and stability: bases and subgrades that manage runoff, mulches and soils that retain moisture without compaction, and durable surface aggregates that tolerate sun exposure. For homeowners this means selecting bulk materials that suit both everyday landscaping and gradual neighborhood development—strategies like proper grading, erosion control, and matched material selection become more important as local demand increases. Irving’s combination of moderate rainfall and frequent sun creates specific challenges for material performance. Soils and aggregates that drain well will limit water pooling after storms, while materials with stable particle sizes resist washout on sloped sites and reduce settling over time. For homeowners, that means prioritizing permeability, compaction characteristics, and regional sourcing—materials that work with the local soil profile and weather patterns will last longer and require less maintenance. Hello Gravel helps by connecting you with nearby suppliers and hauling partners who understand local conditions, offering transparent pricing, delivery scheduling, and guidance so you can choose materials that fit Irving’s climate and the practical needs of your project.Popular Projects in Irving This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Irving Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Irving.
Start by defining the function of the material: drainage, structural base, surface finish, or topsoil. Match that need to material characteristics such as drainage, compaction, and appearance, and balance against your budget. Use our material calculator or contact our sales team for recommendations based on your project size and desired look.
Irving's seasonal freeze-thaw cycles and wet springs can affect compaction and drainage, so choose materials that handle freeze-thaw and heavy rainfall for load-bearing areas. Schedule deliveries and installation in late spring through early fall when possible to avoid frozen or muddy conditions. If you must work in colder months, plan for extra site prep and longer drying/compaction times.
Calculate volume in cubic yards first (area × depth ÷ 27), then convert to tons using our calculator because densities vary by material. For example, a 12'×40' driveway at 4" depth is about 5.9 cubic yards (roughly 7 to 9.5 tons depending on material); a 10'×10' patio at 2" depth is about 0.6 cubic yards (about 0.7 to 1 ton). Remember our minimum order is 3 tons, so smaller projects may require ordering the minimum or sourcing a smaller quantity locally.
Standard delivery is typically 2+ business days from order confirmation, and a next-day option is available for orders placed before noon CST with an extra fee. You can choose a preferred delivery date at checkout and we will connect you with local suppliers and contracted dump truck haulers (usually tri-axle). Check your zip code for availability and any free-delivery offers in your area.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed and depends on safety, site access, and load type. Request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess when they arrive. If spreading is critical, plan for professional spreading or factor in additional labor.
Materials are regionally sourced, so texture, color, and particle shape reflect local geology and can vary from photos. Natural variation is normal and expected; if color or texture is important, note preferences in Order Notes or request a small sample where available. For critical projects, consider ordering a small test load first.
Permit and ordinance requirements vary by municipality and HOA. Check with Irving city hall, the county, and your HOA before delivery if you plan to place material in public right-of-way, alter drainage patterns, or build a driveway or retaining structure. When in doubt, contact local authorities or our team for guidance before ordering.
Price depends on material type, quantity ordered, distance from the supplier, truck access and site constraints, delivery speed (standard vs next-day), and any requested services like spreading. Seasonal demand and local availability also affect pricing. Get an itemized quote through our site to see the specific cost factors for your job.
Local soils and drainage determine whether you need materials that drain well or compact tightly. Clay-heavy soils tend to hold water and may need better-draining aggregates beneath surfaces, while sandy soils drain readily but may require more compaction or a stabilizing base. Evaluate the site or consult our team to choose materials and prep methods that address local drainage and load requirements.
Late spring through early fall is generally the easiest time for deliveries and installation because sites are less likely to be frozen or waterlogged. Early spring can be wet and messy, and winter brings freeze-thaw issues that complicate compaction and spreading. If you need a winter delivery, confirm site access and plan for possible delays or extra site preparation.
