Why Cliffside Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Cliffside is a small but active community of 710 residents, positioned within a growing West North Carolina region that feeds steady construction and renovation activity. A local growth rate of 2.80% annually signals consistent demand for home upgrades, new driveways, garden projects, and small-scale construction rather than a sudden building boom. The area's climate—228 sunny days per year and 34.00 inches of annual rainfall, in hardiness zone 8b—means homeowners need materials that balance sun exposure and moisture management. In practice that translates to reliable bulk supplies of aggregate, sand, dirt, mulch, and stone that perform well under both bright, drying conditions and periodic rain. As households invest in patios, erosion control, pathways, and planting beds, quality materials matter for drainage, compaction, longevity, and plant health, and sourcing locally helps ensure materials match Cliffside's geology and climate.Popular Projects in Cliffside This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Cliffside Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Cliffside.
Order online and we match you with a local supplier and hauler. Deliveries are made by dump truck with a standard lead time of 2+ business days; next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Minimum orders start at about 3 tons, and drivers may be able to tailgate spread at their discretion if requested at checkout.
Choose materials based on use: durable, well-draining options are best for driveways and high-traffic areas, while finer materials suit planting beds and turf prep. Because we source regionally, gravel, sand, dirt, stone and similar aggregates will reflect local geology, so consider appearance, drainage needs, and load-bearing requirements when selecting a material.
Measure the area (length x width) and decide on the desired depth, then convert that volume to cubic yards and to tons using the material density. Densities vary by material type, so use our online material calculator or contact our team with your dimensions for a quick estimate.
Coverage depends on the material and the depth you want. As a rough guide, one ton typically covers about 100 to 120 sq ft at a 2-inch depth and about 65 to 80 sq ft at a 3-inch depth, but heavier or bulkier materials will cover less. Use the calculator for precise coverage based on the specific material you choose.
Two inches may work for decorative paths or a light-use surface, but driveways that carry vehicles usually need a thicker, compacted base (commonly 4 to 6 inches or more) depending on soil and traffic. Consider subgrade preparation, drainage, and compaction for long-term performance and consult our team or a contractor for heavier-use areas.
Price depends on the material type, quantity, delivery distance, and current local market conditions. We show transparent pricing during checkout and recommend requesting a quote for your specific job so you can compare material and delivery fees before ordering.
Ordering in bulk (meeting or exceeding the minimum order), choosing standard delivery with a 2+ business day lead time, and consolidating needs into a single delivery all reduce per-ton costs. You can also check for local suppliers through our platform and use our calculator to avoid ordering excess material.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading, but this is at their discretion and depends on safety, site access, and local conditions. Request spreading at checkout and the driver will assess on arrival, but no spreading is guaranteed.
Contact our customer service team as soon as possible; modifications are easiest before the order is processed and dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate changes, but final ability to modify or cancel depends on processing status and supplier schedules.
Natural materials vary by region, so texture and color may differ from photos and samples. We source locally to reflect your area's geology; if color or appearance is important, note preferences in your order notes or contact our team for guidance before purchasing.
Local climate and soil conditions influence drainage, compaction, and erosion, so pick materials that handle wet spells and freeze-thaw cycles common in western North Carolina. For example, choose well-draining aggregates for slopes and consider added base thickness or geotextile fabric in areas with soft subsoil.
We support driveways, walkways, patios, drainage trenches, garden beds, grading, and small construction backfill. Typical small projects like a garden bed or walkway may need a few tons, while a standard residential driveway often requires several dozen tons; use our calculator or contact sales for ballpark estimates.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
