Why Antonia Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Antonia is a small but active community with a population of 1,500, and its steady 0.40% annual growth points to ongoing home maintenance, infill projects, and modest new construction rather than a building boom. That measured expansion, combined with a regional metro of 2.3+ million nearby residents, means homeowner projects often mirror broader trends—renovations, driveway repairs, drainage upgrades, and landscape refreshes are common. Antonia's temperate conditions (hardiness zone 8b), 228 sunny days, and 33.90 inches of annual rainfall together create a need for materials that handle both sun and periodic moisture: reliable base materials for driveways and patios, well-graded sand and gravel for drainage, quality topsoil and mulch for beds, and durable fill for grading. Choosing the right bulk materials up front reduces rework, prevents erosion, and improves long-term performance for a range of projects from planting beds to foundation prep.Popular Projects in Antonia This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Antonia Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Antonia.
Antonia's seasonal temperature swings and freeze-thaw cycles can affect compaction and drainage. Choose materials that hold up to wet winters and thaw cycles—ones that provide good drainage and resist heaving work best. For surfaces and sub-bases, look for mixes that shed water rather than retain it, and plan for proper grading and compaction at installation.
Many yards around Antonia have heavy or clay-rich soils and pockets of poor drainage, so improving the base is often more important than the surface material. Consider adding material that improves permeability and creates a stable base, and use geotextile fabric or drainage layers where standing water or high groundwater is present. A brief site inspection will tell you whether extra excavation or a drainage plan is needed.
Spring through fall is the busiest and most convenient time for delivery and installation, while winter can limit options due to frozen ground and road restrictions. Standard delivery typically requires 2+ business days, and next-day delivery may be available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Schedule early in peak season to secure your preferred date.
Permit and HOA requirements vary by property and neighborhood, so check with St. Louis County or the local township and your HOA before starting work. Driveway reconstruction, changes to grading, or work in a floodplain or near a public right-of-way may need permits. When in doubt, contact your local building department to confirm rules and avoid costly rework.
Most deliveries use tri-axle dump trucks, which require enough room to turn and a stable surface to offload. Narrow roads, low-hanging wires, steep driveways, or soft shoulders can limit truck access and may require a staging area a short distance from the drop point. Plan access, mark the drop zone, and expect minimum orders (our minimum order is 3 tons) and possible extra fees for difficult access or short loads.
Quantities vary by project but here are rough starting points: small garden beds 3-5 tons, walkways and small patios 5-15 tons, single-car driveways 20-60 tons, and larger driveways or extensive grading 60+ tons. These are estimates—use a material calculator or get a quick quote with project dimensions to get an accurate amount.
Because we source regionally, color, texture, and particle shape reflect the local geology and can vary from photos or samples. Those natural variations affect aesthetics and sometimes performance (for example, angular rock compacts differently than rounded material). You can note color or texture preferences in your order, but exact matches are not guaranteed.
Many local suppliers and haulers offer short loads, staged deliveries, and contractor pricing, but availability and fees vary by supplier and job size. Short-load deliveries often carry a higher per-ton or minimum fee, while repeat contractor accounts may qualify for discounts or priority scheduling. Ask our team for options when you request a quote so we can match you with the right supplier.
If your property is in or near a floodplain, floodway, or a steep slope, check local regulations first because extra permits or engineered solutions may be required. For erosion-prone sites, choose materials and details that promote runoff control—proper grading, drainage channels, and stabilization layers are more important than the surface material alone. When necessary, work with an engineer or landscape professional to protect slopes and waterways.
Prices depend on material type, whether pricing is per ton or cubic yard, distance from local quarries, load size, and current seasonal demand. Because regional sourcing and trucking costs change, the fastest way to get a reliable estimate is to request a quote for your zip code and project size or use our online material calculator. We provide transparent pricing and delivery options once you enter your location.
Contact our team as soon as possible—changes are easiest before the order is processed and dispatched. We will do our best to accommodate modifications, but acceptance depends on supplier and hauler status; last-minute changes may incur fees. If an issue arises after delivery, contact customer service promptly so we can work toward a satisfactory resolution.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion; you can request it at checkout but it is not guaranteed. Prepare a clear, level drop zone free of obstacles and mark any sensitive areas, and make sure vehicles have enough room to maneuver. Clearing vegetation, temporary marking of the drop location, and communicating access constraints before delivery will help the job go smoothly.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.

We cannot get out of the truck and manually spread it. However, depending on the location, safety, and comfortability of the driver – we may be able to tailgate spread your material. This involves pulling the truck forward as material is being dumped to make it easier for you to distribute material after delivery.
The minimum order size is 3 tons.
