Local Insights
Evergreen West Central is a community of about 25,000 residents within a growing Colorado metro that exceeds 2.4+ million people. A steady annual growth rate of 2.50% nationally translates locally into more home renovations, new driveways, expanded yards, and small-scale construction—all of which increase demand for bulk materials. With roughly 228 sunny days per year and an annual rainfall of 33.50 inches, projects here must balance dry-season UV exposure with periodic precipitation-driven runoff. That climate, plus the region's hardiness zone of 8b, means homeowners and contractors increasingly choose durable, locally sourced aggregates, soils, and mulches that handle sun, occasional heavy rain, and temperature swings. For practical landscaping and construction outcomes, reliable supply, consistent gradation, and proper delivery timing matter as much as material choice.

I work for an industrial construction company that deals with a lot of civil work, and I'm very accustomed to building a proper base with specific materials on projects we work on. The people at Hello Gravel were very pleasant to deal with. Prices are good. Unfortunately, the product I asked for wasn't available after paying for it, but they worked hard at ensuring I had a suitabe alternative. In the end, it all worked well, and the staff were very attentive. Lots of operators would not have gone through the trouble they did to make sure I was happy as a customer. Hello Gravel did

Pick materials that handle freeze-thaw cycles and shed water well. Blends like crushed aggregate with good drainage help reduce frost heave and rutting, while coarser mixes provide better traction in snow. Consider how the surface will be used (foot traffic vs vehicles) and ask our team or use the material calculator to match depth and type to your project.
Yes. Elk, deer, and smaller wildlife are common in the area and can disturb loose organic material or plantings. Harder materials and rock beds can reduce digging and trampling, but plan for protective barriers around sensitive plantings and avoid applying attractive organic mulches where animals browse. Local terrain steepness also affects erosion and drainage, so pick aggregates that stabilize slopes and manage water runoff.
Measure the area (length x width) and decide on a compacted depth, then convert volume to tons using our online calculator or guidance from our team. For sloped sites, you may need extra material for berms, transitions, and compaction losses, so order a little more than the flat-area estimate. Remember our minimum order is 3 tons and we can help refine quantities if you contact us with project dimensions.
Freeze-thaw cycles can cause heaving, settling, and rutting if surfaces are not installed with good drainage and a compacted base. Use materials and installation practices that promote drainage, proper slope, and compaction, and consider geotextile fabric on weak soils. Routine maintenance like filling low spots in spring and regrading keeps surfaces stable through winter extremes.
Deliveries are made by contracted dump truck fleets (typically tri-axle) and access can limit where trucks can safely drop material. Provide clear directions and a designated drop area at checkout, check local road weight or permit requirements, and note steep or tight access in Order Notes so the driver can plan safely. Tailgate spreading is available at the driver's discretion but is not guaranteed.
Materials are sourced regionally, so texture, color, and particle shape may vary with local geology and season. Photos are representative, but exact matches are not guaranteed; you can add color or texture preferences in the Order Notes and ask our sales team for local samples when available. If the delivered material seems different than expected, contact customer service with photos so we can help.
Late spring through early fall is often the easiest time for installations because ground is drier and access is better, but deliveries are available year-round. Avoid scheduling big deliveries on days with heavy snow or during freeze-thaw transitions when possible, and allow extra time for site prep in winter. If you need faster timing, next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee.
Our minimum order is 3 tons, so very small amounts may require a contractor or different supplier. You can request placement instructions in the Order Notes and drivers will assess whether they can safely place material where requested, but placement and tailgate spreading are at the driver's discretion. For delicate work near plants, consider staging material on pallets or using a small loader or crew to move material after delivery.
Clear obstacles, mark the preferred drop zone, and make sure access routes are passable for large trucks. Note any overhead wires, narrow gates, or soft ground, and tell us about weight-restricted roads or neighborhood rules when you order. Having a staffed contact on site speeds unloading and helps avoid delays or additional fees.
Contact customer service promptly and include photos and a description of the issue so we can evaluate and work toward a solution. We will coordinate with the supplier and follow our issue-resolution process, which may include return, replacement, or other remedies depending on the situation. Refer to our refund policy for details and reach out quickly for the best chances of resolution.
