Screened Sand

Screened sand is a finely processed construction aggregate that has been passed through a mesh to remove larger particles, resulting in a uniform, clean texture. This screening process ensures the sand is free from debris, stones, and clumps, making it ideal for applications where consistency and smoothness are essential.

The uniformity of screened sand enhances its performance in a variety of projects. It is commonly used as a base material for pavers, patios, and walkways, providing a stable and level foundation. In masonry work, screened sand is preferred for mixing with cement to create mortar or concrete, as its clean texture ensures better bonding and a smoother finish. It is also suitable for use in playgrounds, sandboxes, and as a top dressing for lawns due to its soft, debris-free nature.

Pros of screened sand include easy compaction, excellent drainage, and a reduced risk of uneven settling. Its clean, fine consistency makes it less dusty and more comfortable for bare feet in recreational areas. However, because it is not compacted with larger aggregates, it may not be suitable for heavy load-bearing applications without additional stabilization.
