Gravel For Reliable Drainage In Loco • Choose Your Gravel Delivery Date
Decomposed Granite
Known for its natural look, this compact, durable material drains well and holds up in high-traffic areas. Made from crushed and weathered granite down to a mix of fine gravel and sand—best for patios, paths, driveways, and landscape projects. Can range in color from light brown and tan to reddish and gray, depending on the natural stone color in the region.
Road Base
(Class 5 | ABC | Crusher Run) A mixture of crushed limestone or granite, gravel, and sand, ranging from 1 ½” in size down to fines (small particles). Commonly used for constructing roads, driveway bases, parking lots, and other paved and unpaved surfaces. Intended to be compacted, hence the inclusion of fines within the material to provide support and be resistant to erosion and shifting.

Why Loco Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Loco is a small, steadily growing community (city population 400) tucked into West Oklahoma’s landscape. With a modest growth rate of 0.40% annually and a climate in hardiness zone 8b, homeowners here see plenty of outdoor projects that need durable materials. Loco gets 228 sunny days/year and about 33.50 inches of rain annually, so properties face both strong sun and periodic heavy showers. That combination drives demand for aggregates that control erosion, promote drainage, and create low-maintenance driveways, paths, and patios. Homeowners choose quality gravel to stabilize surfaces, reduce muddy spots after storms, and provide a clean aesthetic that stands up to the local weather and soils. Gravel works well in Loco’s climate because it sheds water, reduces soil erosion on slopes, and tolerates high sun exposure without significant change in performance. Depending on project needs, crushed angular gravel is ideal for driveways and stabilized surfaces while pea gravel or rounded stone is better for decorative beds and walkways. Hello Gravel connects Loco homeowners with local suppliers, schedules delivery via dump trucks, and offers clear pricing, a material calculator, and delivery options (standard 2+ business days, next-day available) so you get the right gravel, sourced regionally and delivered when you need it.Popular Projects in Loco This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Loco gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Loco.
Most gravel for Loco orders is sourced regionally from quarries and pits in West Oklahoma. Regional sourcing means color, texture, and stone type can vary depending on local geology, which is normal for natural aggregates. If you have a color preference, add it in Order Notes and we will do our best to match available local stock.
For a durable Loco driveway, a layered approach works best: 4–8 inches of crusher run or road base as the compacted base, topped with 1–2 inches of 3/4" crushed stone or 3/8" crushed stone for the wearing surface. Local clay soils in West Oklahoma compact differently, so a compacted base and good drainage are especially important to avoid rutting and washouts. Contractors often add an edge restraint to keep material from spreading.
Use Hello Gravel's material calculator for precise estimates based on area and depth, but as a rough rule 1 cubic yard of gravel is about 1.3 tons. For example, a 10 ft by 20 ft area at 2 inches depth requires about 1.2 cubic yards, roughly 1.6 tons. Always order a little extra to account for compaction and grading.
Hello Gravel serves nationwide areas; check your zip code to confirm Loco availability, and note our minimum order is 3 tons. Standard delivery is scheduled at least 2 business days out, and next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an additional fee. Deliveries are made by contracted dump truck fleets, so we'll confirm the delivery window after your order is processed.
Drivers may be able to perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, and you can request this service at checkout. Because safety and site conditions vary, spreading is not guaranteed; the driver will assess whether it can be done safely upon arrival. If you need professional spreading, consider arranging a local contractor ahead of delivery.
Gravel reflects local geology, so color, shape, and texture commonly differ from photos that may show material from another region. Weather, stock variations at local quarries, and particle size can also change appearance. If a specific look matters, note it in Order Notes and contact our team before ordering to discuss available local options.
Washed rock or 3/4" clean crushed stone is typically best for drainage in Loco because it allows water to flow while resisting soil clogging. West Oklahoma's clay soils may require geotextile fabric under the stone to prevent fines from migrating into the drainage layer. For larger flows or field drains, consider larger diameter rock and consult a contractor for sizing.
Clear a 12–14 ft wide access route with turning room for the dump truck, remove low-hanging branches and utility hazards, and mark the desired drop location with stakes or cones. Make sure the ground can support heavy trucks—avoid soft, recently watered areas—and let us know any access issues before delivery. If the driver cannot safely access the drop point, they may place material at a more suitable location on the property.
Our minimum order is 3 tons, which fits most small driveways and many landscape projects, but smaller quantities may be available through customer pickup from a local supplier. Contact our sales team to discuss options and local pickup availability, and they can recommend the best material and quantity for your small project. Keep in mind delivery fees and truck logistics when ordering near the minimum.
In West Oklahoma's climate, maintain gravel by raking or grading low spots after heavy rains, topping up worn areas every 1–3 years depending on traffic, and ensuring good drainage to prevent erosion. Compact the base when installing driveways and regrade periodically to remove ruts and washouts. For dust control, consider fine material blends, periodic watering, or professional stabilizers suited for local conditions.
Contractors typically use crusher run or road base for compacted subbases and structural pads because the mix of fines and stone locks together when compacted. Standard thicknesses are 6–8 inches for residential driveways, 8–12 inches for heavy equipment or vehicle pads, and deeper sections where the native soil is soft. Always evaluate the load, soil conditions, and local frost depth with your contractor before deciding thickness.
Because Loco is a small community, local ordinances, county road rules, or HOA guidelines may apply to driveway materials, runoff, and access points, so check with the county or your HOA before making major changes. Permits may be required for altering curb cuts or changing drainage patterns. If you have questions, contact Hello Gravel's support and we can help point you to local contacts and best practices.
