Why Tatums Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Tatums has a city population of 125 and sits within a larger metro area with a population of 2.3+ million, a context that points toward steady, incremental development rather than rapid sprawl. With a growth rate of 0.40% annually, homeowner renovation and small-scale construction demand tends to be consistent year over year—favoring projects like driveways, drainage upgrades, garden beds, and incremental property improvements. The local climate—228 sunny days per year and average annual rainfall of 33.50 inches in hardiness zone 8b—creates a mix of needs: materials must stand up to strong sun exposure while also managing periodic rainfall and runoff. For Tatums homeowners, that means sourcing quality bulk materials (gravel, dirt, sand, mulch, stone and similar aggregates) that balance durability, drainage performance, and low maintenance. Reliable, regionally sourced materials matter here because they are more likely to reflect local geology and weather resilience, reducing rework and delivering better performance over time.Popular Projects in Tatums This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Tatums Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Tatums.
It depends on use, budget, and desired look. For high-traffic driveways choose a compactable, well-graded aggregate for stability; for decorative beds or pathways pick a material that matches the appearance you want while allowing drainage. Consider the group gravel, sand, dirt, stone for base, finish, and leveling layers as appropriate. If you need help, our team can suggest options based on your project and local conditions.
Start by addressing slope, grading, and where water is moving on the site rather than only the surface material. Permeable aggregates and properly sized base layers can improve drainage, and geotextile fabric or larger stone may be needed to control erosion. The right mix of gravel, sand, dirt, stone and a plan to direct water away from structures will give the best long-term results. Consult with a local contractor or our team if the site has severe erosion or complex drainage patterns.
Think about stability, comfort, and maintenance: compactable materials make firm walking surfaces, while looser finishes are better for decorative beds. Edge restraint, proper depth, and a stable base help materials perform well over time. Use the gravel, sand, dirt, stone group appropriately—base layers for structure, top layers for appearance. Seasonal planting and local climate should also guide your choice.
Measure the area (length x width) and decide on the depth you need, then convert to cubic yards: area (sq ft) x depth (ft) / 27 = cubic yards. As a quick rule, 1 cubic yard covers about 100 sq ft at a 3-inch depth. Use Hello Gravel’s material calculator or contact our team with your dimensions and project type for a more exact estimate. Remember we have a 3-ton minimum order, so order accordingly.
Hello Gravel has a 3-ton minimum order for most deliveries. Standard delivery typically requires 2+ business days, while next-day delivery is available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Many areas offer free delivery, but fees can vary by distance and access; you’ll see pricing and available dates at checkout for your zip code. We work with local haulers, so delivery windows and fees reflect regional logistics.
Some drivers can perform tailgate spreading at their discretion, and you can request this service at checkout. Whether it can be done depends on site access, safety, and the load type, so drivers will assess on arrival. Hello Gravel does not guarantee spreading services, so plan accordingly if you need precise placement. If spreading is not possible, ask about local contractors or tools to finish the job.
Spring and fall are often easiest for delivery and installation because the ground is usually workable and weather is milder. Heavy rains in late spring or early summer and freezing conditions in winter can complicate deliveries, make sites muddy, or affect compaction. Summer heat may make some installations harder on workers and plants. Check local weather and plan ahead—our scheduling tool lets you choose preferred delivery dates.
Permit and HOA rules vary by city, county, and neighborhood, so check with Tatums city hall, the county office, or your HOA before starting. Small towns often have fewer restrictions, but driveways that change access, alter drainage, or connect to public roads may require permits. If you’re unsure, contact local authorities or our support team for general guidance before ordering materials. Reviewing rules early can prevent delays or rework.
Regional sourcing means materials reflect the local geology, so color, texture, and grain size can vary from photos or samples. Performance differences—such as drainage and compaction—are influenced by local climate and soil conditions, so choose materials suited to West Oklahoma conditions. You can add color or texture preferences in the order notes, but exact matches aren’t guaranteed. If appearance is critical, request a local sample or ask our team for options available in your area.
