Why Montgomery County Homeowners Choose Hello Gravel
Montgomery County serves a growing homeowner community: the city population is 28,000, and the surrounding metro area totals 2.4+ million. A steady 0.69% annual growth rate means incremental residential construction, renovations, and landscaping projects are common—not explosive growth, but consistent demand that keeps contractors and suppliers busy. The local climate—228 sunny days per year, about 34.00 inches of annual rainfall, and USDA hardiness zone 8b—supports year-round outdoor work but also creates specific needs: reliable drainage, erosion control, and materials that perform well with alternating wet and dry conditions. For homeowners, that translates to frequent orders for bulk supplies like soils, sands, gravels, mulches, and stone for driveways, grading, patios, and stormwater solutions. Choosing quality, regionally sourced materials reduces maintenance and improves longevity in Montgomery County conditions.Popular Projects in Montgomery County This Season

Frequently Asked Questions - Montgomery County Gravel Delivery
Everything you need to know about gravel delivery in Montgomery County.
Costs vary by material, quantity, and distance, but a rough local range is about $20 to $70 per ton (or $25 to $100 per cubic yard) depending on type and quality. Delivery fees, minimum order sizes, and seasonal demand can push costs higher, so use our quote tool or check your zip code for exact pricing. Contractors may get different pricing for large orders or repeat business.
Choose materials with good drainage and stability for Kentucky's seasonal freeze-thaw and rainfall patterns. Well-graded aggregates and properly compacted base layers generally perform better, while fine, loose materials can rut or wash away; consider drainage planning alongside material choice. If you are comparing options like gravel, sand, dirt, stone, think about how each handles water and compaction for your specific project.
Hello Gravel typically works with a 3-ton minimum order and delivers by dump truck, often tri-axle, within our local service area. Standard delivery is provided in 2+ business days, with next-day delivery available for orders placed before noon CST for an extra fee. Delivery radius, fees, and exact lead times depend on the supplier and your zip code, so get a quote to confirm.
The best timing is usually late spring through early fall when the ground is firmer and weather is milder, which helps with compaction and settling. Winter and very wet periods can make grading and compaction harder and increase the risk of washouts, though some projects may still proceed with proper preparation. Plan ahead and schedule deliveries on dry days when possible to reduce delays and extra costs.
Local rules vary, and some projects like changing a driveway footprint or working in the public right-of-way may require county permits or HOA approval. Check with Montgomery County planning or your HOA before you order materials, and include permit references in your project planning. Our team can remind you to verify local requirements, but we do not handle permits directly.
Regional sourcing often lowers cost because suppliers draw from nearby pits, quarries, and recycling centers, which reduces hauling distance. Availability of local suppliers in Montgomery County can change material options and pricing, so our platform connects you with nearby suppliers to find the best option. If you want lower hauling costs, mention your zip code when getting a quote so we can prioritize local sources.
Montgomery County soil types and drainage patterns influence whether you need a stronger base, extra drainage, or different surface material to avoid settling and erosion. In areas with poor drainage, add layers that promote runoff and consider geotextile fabric, edging, or a compacted base before placing surface aggregate. Talk to our team about your site conditions so we can recommend materials and quantities that suit local soils and drainage.
Contractor bids usually include labor, materials, delivery, and equipment; ask for a clear breakdown so you can compare offers. Pricing practices vary—some contractors mark up materials while others charge a separate delivery fee—so confirm who supplies and schedules delivery and how change orders are handled. Get multiple estimates, check references, and confirm permits and timelines before work begins.
Measure your project area (length, width, and depth) and use a material calculator to convert cubic feet into tons or cubic yards; Hello Gravel’s calculator and chat can help with this. Account for compaction, slope, and a small overage (usually 5-10%) for waste and uneven spread. If you are unsure, request a review from our team with photos and dimensions so we can recommend a safe order amount.
Expect a confirmation call or text before delivery and place any access or parking notes at checkout; drivers deliver with contracted trucks, not branded Hello Gravel vehicles. Tailgate spreading may be available at the driver's discretion—request it at checkout but note it is not guaranteed. Contact our team as soon as possible if you need to change your order; we will try to accommodate changes before dispatch but cannot promise all requests.
As of today, we require 2 business days for delivery.
